33-30 Bath
Less than 4 minutes left, Bath forge ahead again but will they be able to hold onto it this time. Two quick intercept by Odeogberin (the g is silent) suggest otherwise
Tnev in commentary describing Guthrie as a spring, she goes down but then she pops straight up again LOL
46-40 Bath 2.5 mins to go
QTR 4
Bath 48 Lightning 44
Tnev impressed with both teams. She reckons it was the most impressive game of the weekend so far. Bath real contenders for the title. Have to agree Bath looked solid, they worked and worked until they could finally pull away for the win.
MVP: Guthrie

Bath looking ominously strong, although props to Bayman for sticking with her youngsters – they’ll get better as they get more exposure at this level. Expect to see both teams fighting for it at the sharp end of the season.
The mispronunciation of players’ names really irks me. If you’re going to be in the commentary box, take some time to learn them. Where Tracey Neville kept finding the extra ‘c’ in Cholhok’s name, I’ll never know, but she kept calling her Cholcock (until I assume someone told her at the end of Q3, as it got better).
I really like her analysis of the game in the breaks, but she talks constantly throughout the game, the commentator could barely get a word in.
I’m really impressed with Tash Pavelin at GD for Bath. She worked really well out front with Imogen Allison, took clean ball and helped her GKs focus on containing Cholhok.
Full time: Bath 48-44

God yes, they do butcher the names don’t they. Also I usually have a bet on how long it is before Katherine Merry says …’second bite of the cherry’ and how long it is before it gets mentioned that Jade Clarke is England’s most capped player!
I had Pavelin as my MVP.
I think Lightning will improve when Clark is back. As mentioned she looks into the circle for Cholhok a lot earlier than the players in this game did.
SDL is so good on defence. She made a turnover and immediately got into defence mode and won the ball back straight away.
Also (from yesterday) massively impressed with Betsy Creak.
Anyway…..Go Rhinos! As a Yorkshire person, I’m so glad we have a team to support again.

A win for bath with Guthrie a standout. Both defensively looked good and made each other play very wide. Neither side will be too fussed with that, Guscoth and Clark both missing and I don’t think either team are fully firing yet in attack. So much more to come….@SkyNetball

Yes Pavelin was good and so was Middleton in the Storm game.
Storm V Mavericks
Storm:
GS Bailey
GA Sophie Kelly
WA Gulvin
C Parsons
WD Cooper
GD Middleton
GK PriestMavericks:
GS Kadeem C
GA Essam
WA Lees
C Sasha C
WD Beth Ecuyer-dale
GD Trip
GK QuashieQTR 1
10-13 Mavericks
Middleton cautioned. Male umpire has already over-ruled the female one, then called a short pass (Tnev and I not sure if that was correct  ) and his 3ft in the circle is questionable. Both Quashie and Trip were heavily penalized that quarter. hope the umpires don’t spoil the game.
16-26 Mavericks
Middleton gets a warning from the male umpire for persistent breaking on. Again the defence at his and are getting heavily penalized. Mavs capitalize
I think Middleton needs to tidy up – she was persistently getting warned yesterday as has had a warning today. She’ll be sent off before too long!
On another note, Kadeen Corbin and Chloe Essam are playing very well together in the shooting circle although I see Corbin is still as frantic as ever. Luckily for her, the Storm defence are struggling.
HT: Storm 17 – 29 Mavericks
