Link to watch Storm v Rhinos…
1/4 time: Rhinos 13-12
Rushton converts right on the buzzer to gain the 1 goal advantage for Leeds. It’s certainly close but it’s been a bit scrappy at times, both teams coming up with errors when in good positions.
At the moment, Dixon just won’t shoot. And it’s putting a lot of pressure on Rushton and the team in general. The last two times in possession, Dixon’s been in good shooting positions, but hasn’t gone to post. Meanwhile, Oyesola is a pest. In a good way, that is. Storm 21-20
1/2 time: Storm 25-23
Rhinos really missing Wallam in the attack end. Rushton is doing her best, but there’s a big difference there. Dixon’s lack of shooting would be okay if Wallam was playing, but it’s hurting them today. At the other end, Bailey is as solid as a rock.
Developed into a real goal for goal tussle now. And Dixon is now confident enough to shoot. And it’s helped her team enormously. Rhinos 33-32
3/4 time: Rhinos 35-32
As mentioned, Dixon’s growing confidence on the shot helped Rhinos out in that quarter. Jade Clarke is everywhere. Does she ever stop? Not sure if there’s anything in it but the team going to right of screen (Storm going there now) has won each quarter.
Good defensive pressure from Leeds has forced storm into more errors the longer this game has worn on. They lead by 7 with 3 minutes left.
Leeds really pushed on in that final quarter and looked strong after bringing on their bench. Interested to see the Rhinos shooting stats as they did look pretty poor on the shot for a large part of the game…
Full time: Rhinos 50-44
That’s a very good win from Leeds, missing three members of their starting seven. Rushton was awarded MVP. She got better and better as the match wore on. Her shooting was a little shaky, but her positioning and strength was excellent.
Dragons v Sirens
Halftime score 21-27 Sirens
Dragons lost Gallagher in the first quarter to a knee injury which saw an usual combo of Goodwin at GA and Barrie at GS. Sirens pulled away in the second quarter and never looked like losing the lead.
ALJ not in the starting 7 and Robinson benched just before halftime.
QTR 3
29 – 37 Sirens
AJL entered the game and made an instant impact causing 2 turnovers, however, Dragons were unable to capitailise on them.
The goalers at both end as playing, both showing a range of versatility and accuracy.
From watching the match I don’t think ALJ is happy. I probably wouldn’t be either if I was on the Sunshine Coast and then found myself in Cardiff or Wakefield ???♀️
But hopefully she’ll settle and we’ll see it on the court. -
