        Manchester Thunder v Leeds Rhinos

        QTR 1

        19-12 Rhinos

Dan has done his homework again. Rhinos are all over Thunder. Can Thunder settle? will they find a WA? all to play for.

Good competitive first Q (what we saw of it) with Rhinos skipping out to a lead early, Thunder catching them, but Rhinos again gaining the advantage late. It’s clearly not going to be an easy one for Thunder from here.

            QTR 2

            25-20 Thunder

Similar to quarter 1, Rhinos looked on top at the start of the quarter. Thunder settled quicker this time and were able to take advantage of the 2 mistakes by Rhinos to draw level and then pull ahead.

              1/2 time: Thunder 25-20

Very disappointing Q for Rhinos. For some reason, the Leeds players just stopped moving, and they lost all fluency in attack. Thunder went from strength to strength, cleaning up the Rhinos errors and converting themselves

                  3/4 time: 33-33

Well, it’s all to play for in this final Q. Rhinos came charging back in that Q and had a 3 goal lead at one stage. It’s Rushton v Cardwell at the moment as they are doing most of the scoring for their teams.

Who comes out on top from here?

                    QTR 3

                    33-33 Level

WOW, 8/13 Rhinos was the quarter score. The introduction of Keenan by Rhinos saw the easy high ball to Joyce M effectively closed out, she only had 1 shot. Thunder reintroduced Airey (GD) to disrupt Dixon and that worked too. Still all to play for.

                      FULLTIME:

Manchester Thunder 48 Leeds Rhinos 41

Game of the season so far. The scores remained level until the last 3.5 minutes when Almond and Airey manufactured two deflects in a row. Airey chased down the ball to stop it from going out of court but she couldn’t control it and lobbed it back. Almond was backing up but the lob is too high. Jadey C is first to the lose ball but she too can’t control but Amy Carter can. That was the turnover that won the game for Thunder. Great contest.

                        Full time: Thunder 48-41

Was goal for goal in the final Q, until Thunder finally capitalised on a turnover, and dominated from that point on. Rhinos will be disappointed they let it slip, but considering the players they still have out, they’ve been terrific.

By the way, that match was 56-33 to the team going to the right of screen!

Great game for the neutral observer – Ellie Cardwell showing what she can do when she doesn’t have to run and run. Leeds were amazing and can only get better: lots of young players on court who will learn from the pressure. And just how good is Jade Clarke?

Sorry nothing to report, I missed this quarter!

jinxibo… Imogen Allison went down early with what looks like a possible achilles injury. Hopefully not too serious.

                                1/4 time: Bath 14-4

Pulse just really hesitant on attack. It’s certainly a fine defence they’re up against, but they still need to be more positive.

                                  QTR 2

                                  8-27 Bath

Halli looked upset at the halftime interview “we need to capitalize on our turnovers” she said “Sam told us not to do it and we just keep doing it, making the same mistakes over again and over again”
Don’t see Pulse coming back but I’m sure we’ll see an improvement in the second half.

                                  Bath both shooters on 100%
