That’s great news for George – she’s really really impressed over the SSN season, and now she knows what it’s all about, expect to see her flying next year.
And what a great conundrum for Jess Thirlby: who does she take to CWG from Harten/Housby/SDL/Cardwell/Fisher – bearing in mind she has Nat H as a backup GA as well? Seems a shame that one of them will miss out.
Is it really much of a conundrum? Fisher is clearly better than Drakeford-Lewis and Cardwell and will only become more so. They may be tempted to pick Haythornthwaite as a midcourter I guess and keep Drakeford-Lewis as GA backup, but I think they need the WA backup more really.
More importantly for the Steel fans what will happen to Heffernan and O’Donnell??
Fisher has signed for another year, presumably Tiana will stay, so that leaves space for 1 more shooter. Heffernan or O’Donnell
When can players be signed from? Is it straight after the grand final?

Fisher is better than DL as a GS – but I don’t think she’s ever played GA, and we need backup there. Cardwell has proved she can play GA this season, and that she has nerves of steel. Agree that Nat H should be focused on WA, but with Housby, Harten, DL, Cardwell AND Fisher in the mix, that’s one more shooter than we need, I’m guessing. Tough call.
Hmmm I don’t agree that fishers better than Cardwell! It was obvious in the roses vs ferns and eng vs all stars that Cardwell was the starting GS and they found it easier to feed her. I think anz premiership would’ve helped massively in terms of her game!
Agree, I rate Cardwell better, and she will just turn and shoot. Fisher had a good ANZ, but was exposed against the Tactix defence in the playoff 2nd Q.
Burley, Woulf, Selby-Rickit signed at Steel to complete their defence end.
Fifita not returning.I just came across this Pacific broadcasting radio in which Sulu was interviewed (posted today). Sulu stated that the Mystics could only keep 10 of their 14 wider squad for next season.

Kate Burley to Steel, joining Te Huinga Reo Selby-Rickit and Sarahpheinna Woulf. Taneisha Fifita taking a break from netball to do missionary work.

I just seen that Fifita is going to do her mission for a year
Nawww that’s soo cool for Fifita. Didn’t realise she was a member!
Best of luck to her on her mission!A great pickup for Steel to get Burley.
I wonder if we’ll see Burley in GK or GD… or both lol
Best of luck to Fifita – hope she returns to netball, she is definitely a future Fern. She’d muscle up to Aussies very well. I highly rate her
