I wondered if Mason being on managed court time was due to NNL eligibility – if you played too much ANZ, you weren’t able to play NNL and the Pulse would’ve been able to use other players.
That’s my thinking around how often Tui was left on the Mystics bench but was carving it up for the Northern Marvels (or Comets, I get them mixed up).
Holly Fowler to the Stars to replace Oceane Maihi?
Did they though?
Bird, Burger and Poi aren’t. TPSR and Nathan both aren’t (I don’t think – happy to be wrong).
Lloyd?
ElleyGlen and Watson are?
But if that was the case, why wouldn’t you have them as a TP?
Nesian – I think the fuss about Mason is because people saw her in the CC, where she played really well and was exciting. When news came out about Rore’s preganancy, it seemed like she might get a look in. And I get the whole argument about young players, experience etc.
The Pulse were woeful at times this year – and even when they were down by so much, she couldn’t get a go.Elley as I think someone mentioned is from the West Coast and came over to St Andrew’s College for her last two years.
Hannah Glen is ex Villa Maria College.
Kate Lloyd went to Ashburton College.
Watson studied at Lincoln and largely been ChCh based since beside her stints at the Steel.I think everyone else as you mention is foreign to the region.
Fowler, Harrison, Johnson, Rore and Temu doesn’t go into one defensive circle does it..
Magic don’t need another defender
Pulse do, but feels like overseas player, maybe?I don’t think Harrison will be back. Not sure Rore will be either – she’s loving being a mum, has nothing to prove and why travel that sort of distance to training.
I’d be quite happy with a back line of Johnson, Fowler and Temu but I feel poor Mather could be squeezed out of WD.
Looks like Magic let go of all their injured players, or players lacking fitness. I would have thought they’d want to keep Grace Kara, but probably didn’t want to risk it with her injuries. Which I think is a fair call.
I do think it’s risky going into the season with just one attacking midcourter (that’s if they are going for a WA specialist). I know Mes can cover WA, but you’d really want her to dominate the GS position.
Johnson may be a TP for Stars. She hasn’t played at top level for at least two years, was working her way back in Australia this season but we all know she has a history of consistent injuries. Mathers been good for the Stars, consistent and remained fit.
Stars team…
