So the Mystics are tragic in the first quarter today. The shooting circle is dreaming, passing in and out and the Stars defenders are getting their hands to way too much ball.
Sulu has the knee she fell heavily on yesterday strapped and does not look at all happy. She looks exhausted. Three double headers in a row and one mid week game is clearly too much after covid.
Despite Nweke being named on the bench she is in fact in the stands.- This reply was modified 2 months, 4 weeks ago by Maryann.

GK Fitzpatrick1/4 time: Stars 13-11
Wilson 8/10 (80%)
Hume 5/8 (63%)Falkner 5/6 (83%)
Vui 6/7 (86%)Defence starring from both sides so far. 6 gains from Stars’ back 3 and Fitzpatrick has 4 for Mystics.
Karaka at GS!
Karaka was formerly a shooter so this move does not surprise me, although this would have to be the first time she has played there at this level.
She doesn’t look out of place in that circle and is prepared to muscle up against the Stars defenders as one would expect. My problem is Falkner and her refusal to go to the post every time she has the ball.
Desperate times? Karaka as a shooter? Imagine if the stars had Harrison. Look how much a team depends on one person Nweke must be thinking ffs…
Ha ha, WeWood, I promise I didn’t copy your post!
.
1/2 time: Stars 32-18
Wilson 20/22 (91%)
Hume 12/19 (63%)Karaka 1/1 (100%)
Falkner 9/12 (75%)Well, that Q was ALL the Stars. Nothing seemed to work for Mystics, especially in the attack end, and yes, we saw Phoenix Karaka put into GS. Stars were totally dominant.
Falkner has no confidence to shoot anymore, I remember her bombing them in from everywhere at the world youth cup in Botswana a few years ago.
If Karaka stays at GS then I’d bring Vui back on at GA.
This is how a team should dominate a Nweke-less Mystics team!
