It seems that NZ players are more likely to change franchises more than Aus players.
Is it a culture thing or players moving to play with certain players. ie Gina moving to play and feed Maia each week. Or just opportunities to step on court.@thunder123 might be a culture thing or as you said to play with other SFs to make that connection. I find that the NZ ladies get on better with each other (outside of normal teammates) than the Ozzie ones do so it could also just to play with friends? Idk.
Thunder123
Abit of what Nesian said and Nate
The NZ players seem to have decided to take unexpected changes/risks, which is great. But maybe also it means some clubs aren’t looking after there players as much?
It truly is a meat market thou and maybe with larger player numbers in Aus or Eng, the players there aren’t willing to risk moves?
Who knows lol.Great that Ruth Aitken has been made a Dame in the Queen’s Birthday Honours. Well deserved with 2 Commonwealth Games gold plus a World Cup
One of the greatest coaches well deserved!
Every time I see her name though I think of when her son peed on people on a jet star flight, terrible I know!
The greatest ferns coach, by some margin.
I’ve got a feeling Dunn is off to the Tactix… and Ekenasio back to the Pulse
Just my thoughts, I know nothing!I doubt burger will be back at the atqcrix unless Watson returns, and there’s a change to their attacking line up.
Dasies, hope you’re wrong with the Pulse one and be amazing with the Tactix
I’m pretty sure Jane will be back at tactix, something exciting will happen in 2 attacking areas I think.
@Nesian and @mcleod we’ll have to do a tally up of all the player movements once sides are confirmed to see how many you knew of 😂
Things will kick off in the contracting space immediately after the final I guess??
One thing I wanted to ask is around when players move teams. If not on a multi year contract are players effectively unemployed from a week or two after the final? How does that work?
@WeWood, I’m no where the knowledge base of McLeod and Nesian but from what I see, the players who are moving on seem to align with their old franchise until the next pre-season begins and do promotional work so they must remain contracted in some way. Remember though that a lot of ANZ players hold down part time jobs ie. Kersten (teacher) for example.
I’ve always wondered how it works in Australia.- This reply was modified 2 years, 11 months ago by Maryann.
The ANZ players don’t earn what SSN players do, netball NZ don’t have a big budget to splash out,but neither did/does netball Australia. So a number of them have jobs, go to uni etc. Hence the reason some of them move to a new area.
@HBHP Burger is very happy at the Tactix with or without Watson there. I don’t see her leaving anytime soon.
@WeWood Contracts are usually around seven months long so they’ll start around Dec and then they finish two weeks after the grand final. This is when the players usually give their cars back. They have the choice of being paid all their salary within that seven month period or they can opt for it to be spread out over 12 months.Contracting has already started.Franchises can negotiate with their current contracted players but they can’t approach other franchises players. Players can however initiate contact with other franchises at any time. Do franchises adhere to the rules? I’m not sure but I know of at least one that doesn’t.
