Interesting info nesian. Karin loves it at the tactix, she might have looked frustrated at times. I remember teams being named fairly quick after the final last year, I expect the same this year.
@Nesian thats super interwsting how they get paid and can spread it out. So a player can approach another franchise first and then the franchise can reply with further conversations or does the frachise have to say wait till contracting period happens?
Next year id love to have all six teams fighting for finals say up till the last round.

I also want the draw changed, can’t have tactix v stars 3 times in 1st 5 rds, like this year.
@McLeod this years draw was a farce. If they really can’t do a draw with 6 teams over three rounds, spreading the draw so that everyone does round 1 before doing round 2 & 3 then I put my hand up to do it for them, free of charge and no divulging any confidential information. Seriously it is not hard to do.
Then if unforseen circumstances happen one of the rounds can be pulled if it is detrimental to the players welfare and therefore the competition.@Maryann Unfortunately it’s not that simple. Sky are a major sponsor for the premiership. They’ve paid a lot of money to have X amounts of games played and so they demand to have all of those games played so you wouldn’t be able to pull any rounds at all, which is why none were pulled this season. It’s a business first and foremost. NNZ would be in breach of their contract and it would turn messy and the last thing you want to do is upset one of your big sponsors, yes, even at the cost of player welfare.
Wow @Nesian, that’s awesome insight re salary over 7 or 12 months.
Confirming teams will contract based on the tier system again – 2x Tier 1 and so on? What were the indicative tier salary bands as well?
And thinking about the Ferns squad (i.e. if Noels names her 25-odd players) are they then paid a retainer for the year and then camp/series fees on top?
@WeWood Tier 1 52k-56k (two player max) Tier 2 45k-49k (tpm) Tier 3 37k-42k (tpm) Tier 4 31k-35k (3 max) Tier 5 26k-28k (3 max)
You would then have non player agreements on top of this and things such as cars and accommodation. You could probably add $20-$25k on top if you are a tier 1-2 player. I have heard of a tier 3 player who was probably one of the highest paid players in the competition so there are other deals that can be put in place.
I haven’t seen a Ferns contract in a couple of seasons but from memory it is a $20k retainer and then you have match payments on top of that.
Oh wow that is eye opening then. Tyvm for explaining. :good:
A couple of news items: ODT says Fisher keen to return next season and Stuff saying Nweke cleared for elimination final.
Nweke confirmed for elimination final on Mystics Instagram
Urgh that be that smug Wilson’s plan all along, & then she’ll blame COVID for them not performing when it was really Nwekes absence… lol I’m such a pessimistic person. Funny how she said teams shouldn’t be blaming COVID or injury, oh how the tables turned
Your intel is always spot on Nesian, but hearing YMD is staying on for another season officially is great news. Great for the Pulse and NNZ.
Mcleod, the Pulse maybe be losing players (to the Tactix? I am 100% guessing) but I know with YMD they will be able to attract the right players. Bring on 2023 and growing SF talent.
