Defence end, through court play and mainly not playing as a team and disconnection.
Mes got a few offensive rebounds but that % and choice of shot needs to improve. Still a headscratcher why Magic are able to play LdB again when theyre defenders were all fit, not sure you should be able to bring in a defender for a shooter but it is what it is.
Utter farce that LDB played a full game. Magic had all 10 contracted players available. And I’m a mes fan but 60% is terrible. She would not get the rebounds like that against England, Aus, Jamaica. Ekenasio shot well.
Here’s one for those who follow the teams players – have the Magic won any games using just their extended squad players or have they used retired ring-ins for their wins? They seem to pull in LDB for any games against the taller shooters or have I missed something.

The tactix missed Nathan today and I imagine the late change at the D end would have thrown them. Hard work for Lloyd who wouldn’t have played more than half? a game to play the full game today.
It seems like Tong’s on managed minutes, but I’m not sure what the story is with Maihi?
The tactix needed to play that last shot around the circle a bit more rather than tie it up. Was good to see the Magic shooting on point but sadly a bit to late in the competition. What a different result for the tactix this year!?!?! I worked at the game yesterday and there was some whispers of some major changes that need to be made. Even Jane was on the sideline for a bit too, she only gave birth a few days ago what a legend
I thought it was interesting hearing commentary say that they felt Poi had been too quiet in the captaincy role, and I’d have to agree. She seems a nice person but a stark comparison leadership wise to watson
Poi seems to face up and say the right things during interviews, bit hard to be on the court yelling at players like Jane used to being a centre vs a GK. I honestly thought the captaincy would of gone to Burger, bit more leadership and experience but at the end of the day the team votes them in. If it was my team id vote Watson back in once shes returns
It’s all a learning cure for Poi being captain. We saw Maia fall totally to pieces last year being captain.
I thought Kimi went missing a bit in extra time. But certainly when she went back to C in the final Q it made a difference.Based off yesterdays matches my starting C for the SF would be Heffernan, then MRB, with poi coming in third.
Though Kersten had her strongest game of the seasonMRB is a bit in all over the place, and getting a warning yesterday didn’t help. I still feel Poi with Meels, Gina and Maia is the best option, still can’t go past what she did in the Con cup last year. Without her playing in game 3 they would have lost.
A Ferns midcourt of the below would be nice and balanced.. just saying.
Crampton – WA
Saunders – WA/C/WD (against a Tier 2 country)
Poi – WA/C
Heffernan – C/WD
Burger – WD/GD -
