@Nate – yep those are the ones, the only thing I have to praise them for yesterday is not using the ‘coach killer’ comment which others do constantly (both here and OZ/UK) I’d quite like to hear Nigel when it’s not the Mystics to see how he goes. I always thought Jenny Woods was bad with her Auckland bias – but so far this year they make her seem almost neutral!!

though in complaining about the commentators – I really am just happy that netball is back!!

@Nate I actually agree with you about boring Mystics and their high ball in. I did really enjoy the circle for the Pulse, both shooters were moving really well and working for each other setting screens. It’s great to watch the ball movement that leads to an easy goal. Nweke just out jumps the opposition and that is her one redeeming quality because she barely moves and can only shoot when under the net. That being said, chuck a black dress on her and I’ll gladly watch the high ball go into her all day and cheer her on so I’m a hypocrite in that sense.

I thought the Pulse played really well considering the circumstances with so many of them coming off covid.

Looking forward to watching the Stars with their first hit out of the season and again the Magic to see if they can repeat last weeks efforts.

@Nesian totally agree with it all and the black dress comment hahaha. Watching the first half of the game I thought my pick for Mystics to win looked shakey, pulse had that fire going on.

          @Kerryn
yep I’m super happy normal netball is back on the TV, I really enjoy ex players that commentate, like Anna Stanley, Adine Wilson and surprisingly Storm Pervis is great to listen too.

Side note, man I absolutely hate the basically no short pass rule…. still …?

Nigel yeldon is a radio rugby commentator, with not much netball knowledge, and Debbie Fuller is mystics forever, once I heard those open their trap it was mute button pushed.

We’re underway in the 2nd game of round 2 . It’s Tactix up against the Stars and Tactix have started strongly, up 10-5 halfway through the first Q.

Nigel Yaldon has commentated netball for ages! But that’s on radio, not TV. He knows the game. The one fault I find with him is just getting a bit overexcited. And you really notice it in these games where there aren’t many fans in.

                  1/4 time: Tactix 18-13

                  Bird 15/16 (94%)
                  Selby-Rickit 3/3 (100%)

                  Wilson 7/8 (88%)
                  Hume 6/7 (86%)

Tactix out of the blocks quickly this week. A strong start from Ellie Bird who looks confident so far under the post. Samon Nathan and Kimiora Poi working well together.

Anyone knows why Johnson isn’t playing for Stars today?

I think Gina plays much better with an attacking centre that provides movement and drive. She’s previously had most success with Saunders, Poi (for 1-2 games in SF) and now MRB.

Whos the male on the Tactix bench next to coaching staff?

                          1/2 time: 32-32

                          Bird 22/24 (92%)
                          Selby-Rickit 10/11 (91%)

                          Wilson 17/19 (89%)
                          Hume 15/17 (88%)

For most of that Q, Tactix held sway, but a few crucial late turnovers let the Stars in. And playing with greater confidence, they capitalised. Gina Crampton has 18 assists!

Is it just me or are our defenders not great at pressuring over the shot?

They’ll 2-on-1 the shooter under the post and by and large, the player shooting has an uncontested attempt at goal?

Not great when you play international netball against a Bruce, Weston, Mentor and co. who will hold the lean for 4s.

Why is Burger giving Hume so much space?

                                Poi on a warning.

42-42 and we’re in the last 4 minutes of the 3rd quarter. Great tussle!
