Pretty good effort by Elie Bird
Congrats TactixThats the Tactix team efforts that got them to the final last year! All of them were on fire! Cant help but think if it had been a full Steel squad like during round 1 would it be the same result??? Poi for Ferns! Burger youre a queen! And at times i have face palmed myself over the Selby Rickett/Bird combo but it worked… even Nawai-CauCau who i wrote off as not very good seems to have stepped up her game
Yes, I’m biased as a Steel supporter but I think the Tactix should have won by more. That was a severely depleted Steel team they came up against.
I was down the stadium on Saturday watching club netball and the Steel were training. Well some of them were, five in total plus the coach. Three of them were doing what I assume to be covid return to play shuttles, the other two sat out and didn’t partake at all. Out of the three who were running, the person who I would assume to be the fittest (due to their position) was dead last and struggling. The other two were doing better but by the time they had finished they simply collapsed to the floor as well.
I really do worry about the health of these athletes, I know of at least one player who just finished their second bout of Covid.
That being said the much maligned shooters seemed to play well for the Tactix. For all the grief that Bird seems to get I think she does quite well. I would have liked to have seen TP’s shooting percentage improve. We seem to have a group of GA’s shooting around that 80% mark which is way too low in my opinion. Someone really needs to put their hand up for the Comm games.
Nothing needs to be said about Burger, does she have a bad game? Didn’t see a point to putting Lloyd and Koloto on for 1-2 minutes each at the end, should have had them a least a few minutes earlier.
Will be cheering for the Tactix on Saturday. Hopefully they can get one over that boring Auckland team.
And I’m a biased Tactix supporter! As much as there as been a heavy debate about COVID I think these athletes have shown us it’s not “just a cold” it annoys me when people say that too, I’m luckily enough not to have had it.
Coaches seem to do that when they know they are way up, put their bench players on, seem the pulse & mystics do it too, it’s like “off you go have a turn”
Agree the GAs need to step it up, Mes was looking good but had a shocker last week, think she was a return to player too so shouldn’t be to harsh
That boring Auckland team love it hahaha
Geez doesn’t Fischer love throwing those elbows around and pushing off, I think she did a Maia and got too court up in the physical defence from nawai-CauCau and Burger and kinda lost her way around the circle. Never seen so many balls thrown out over the baseline in a match.
I think she does have some Mia tributes lol
When she was up against jury one game she looked like she wanted to deck herI thought Poi and TPSR had much better games than I’d seen them play for quite some time. Consistency seems to be a real issue for both of them. I know there’s a lot of big Poi fans on this sub, but this is my subjective opinion.
Poi might be a bit inconsistent, but seriously Kersten and winders are very inconsistent. But hey if that’s what goes to the com games, then so be it.
I think theres only spot for either kersten or winders and not both, both play very similar games but id edge kersten atm as she is a bit more attacking center than winders, i call winders Mini langman as she plays a lot like her, real nuggety defence but tends to get ‘sticky hands’when feeding on attack.
Interesting Poi saying shes no where near her top fitness, and i really think she needs to head elsewhere than tactix to solidify a more permanent SF spot.

My issue with Poi is that she often seems to ‘run’ a lot, but not provide options to the ball
RMB can guarantee having covid is definitely not like having a cold. Sure for some it may be, but generally ppls feel like they’ve been hit by a Mac truck for weeks if not months. Headaches and ongoing fatigue drove me nuts, every time you thought you were coming right, it’d smack you in the butt again. Think it took me 2-3 months to finally shake it. So definitely not a cold for me. I know we needed all these vaccinations but I also worry at the long term affect of those. 3 vaccs and a flu shot within 9 mths can’t be good for the body but then again neither is covid. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.
Poi has had covid, she missed the Tactix return game after 7 of their team had it. She is hardly going to be fizzing is she.
My comments re poi are long standing and predate covid. I’ve always thought she could do more to provide an option to the ball
Interesting, I always thought she was always available for the ball.
I haven’t been up to date with these current Tactix games, so her game may have changed. I think I’m also biased when it comes to Poi, cause I am a fan. She reminds me of Temepara George. -
