Wow those goaling %s are low across the board for that game.
Probably the worst shooting game of the competition from both sides this season.
Magic started off with a hiss and a roar but then slowly faded. Maihi was great for the Magic and the Stars defence was doing a good job.
Neither games were entertaining, would suggest skipping them if you were intending to watch them delayed
Does Magic need a complete clean out in their coaching staff?
Every new coach they’ve had, since Julie Fitz (who was successful), was the assistant first. Since Julie left, they’ve created a losing culture.
I feel they should bring some one fresh in, with no ties with any of the current or past coaches.I do understand that having players out due whatever reasons, has deeply impacted them. I definitely feel things would be different for them if they had a fully fit Ekenasio. But you can’t go past the point that they did not recruit a WA specialist. That’s an amateur move IMO.
Agree Tb on the poor coaching moves by the magic coaches. Absolutely no change up when they were getting hammered. Kersten’s probably wondering why she left the Pulse starting centre role for this set up. What with Rore going on maternity leave, Ekenasio coming off maternity leave and hardly playing, the team’s not as strong as it first looked. They seem to have weaknesses in both ends in the circle. Mikaere should be taking a lot more rebounds with her height.
The shooting stats were abysmal for both sides. Will be interesting to see how the shooters in the Pulse/ Steel game go, against today’s stats. Also what a poor crowd turnout too, for a double header. If that had been held in Wellington it would have been sold out.
Yep coach is a huge blame for Magic, especially this game, Stars went on an 11 goal run and she didnt make one change at all, i think defence for both teams won out against the attack. Still dont understand why they cant play kersten at WA, winders at C, and Edgecombe at WD?
Surely its easier for an experienced C like kersten to move to WA then to ask such a huge effort for a young WD to move to WA?
Or was the plan at start of season to play Mes as WA?
Totally agree both games werent worth the watch at all, shooting % and the shots missed were a 🤷♂️🤦♂️. Maybe its just personal netball fatigue for watching too much netball in one day hahaha
@Kwkiwi – re crowd turnout, I’m going to put it out there that this venue is south of the city and that, combined with a Saturday game on a winter sports day and the need for as many people as possible to be earning $$$ by working every hour given to them will not see large crowds. Then there is Covid of course and Auckland remains the epicentre for it.
Both of these teams coming off losses yesterday.
