I’d be taking Dunn regardless of the fitness test. Let’s go on shooting stats and consistency for shooters. I’ve never seen Dunn get benched for the Pulse except in garbage time when they put some of the development players on for a run.
I mean what re they going to do – take Ekenasio, Wilson, Mes and Nweke?? That would be interesting if that happens if there’s a clutch game against aussie. Those players would definitely not be selected based on consistency and current form then.
With regards to Nweke and the manhandling, it would have been real but maybe Fitzpatrick and Karaka can put her through some training drills. They are two of the most physical defenders we have in the NZ league.

Ekenasio will be there, we need her as captain.

How does the captaincy work? Is it each new competition a new one is selected? In the past when they’ve gone away & come back they generally haven’t had the captain title back

Saunders, Crampton and Fitzpatrick could AA quite easily captain the Ferns.

There’s an article today on Ameliaranne and how she didn’t appreciate how difficult coming back was going to be with two children, commuting Wellington to Tauranga (sometimes with one or both with her) and on to games, a husband working full time etc etc.
From what is said she is realistic that she may not reach the required standard for CG.

I think if we are going to try and select the squad or travelling teams ourselves we really need to look outside the square as I am certain there will be surprises.

It may have just been a bad day for Nweke, I had a day last week at work where I felt like crying which is something that almost never happens to me. Happens to the best of us!

Lokotui was replaced by Elliot after 5mins in first quarter.

Pulse changes for second quarter – Pederson on at C (heavily bandaged kneed), Gordon to WD.

For Steel Tui was replaced by G Heffernan after about 10 in the first quarter.

                        1/2 time: steel 27-23

                        Fisher 21/24 (88%)
                        Tui 6/7 (86%)

                        Dunn 16/16 (100%)
                        Metuarau 7/10 (70%)

Both teams struggled in the 2nd quarter which saw 19 goals and also 19 turnovers! Steel doing just enough to maintain the lead, but both teams will be looking to improve.

Kate Burley is having a ripper of a game for Steel. They lead by 4 with 4 minutes left 3rd Q.

Very feisty game I love it! Still keeping the skill level high and utter grit for every ball. Great game!

                              3/4 time: Steel 39-35

                              Fisher 28/33 (85%)
                              Tui 11/13 (85%)

                              Dunn 23/24 (96%)
                              Metuarau 12/16 (75%)

That quarter was 12-all, so the home side takes a 4-goal lead into the last quarter against a Pulse team where the 7 players on court all have multiple turnovers.

Crowd really getting involved as Pulse goes on a run and hits the lead! That’s 6 goals in a row to Pulse!

Just before 3/4 time, it was Steel 39-34. Since then, Pulse have scored 8 straight goals to lead 42-39
