Hope your right re Bayes and a injury otherwise why have her there
Also regarding Johnsons ‘brace’ pretty sure that’s just black kinesio tape
These womens vs mens games just turn into an exercise in making sure the women don’t get hurt, so they are not competitive. To be honest I didn’t watch them much. The men can’t really go for it so what’s the point. Besides, the NZ sals basketball league, both mens and womens league, are really hotting up and there are some great close games to watch there currently with teams vying for a last 6 playoff place.
In saying that I am looking forward to the semis and finals of the comm games. If NZ has been in the group with Oz, Jamaica and South Africa, now that would have been really interesting. As it is they are going to make the semis easily.

Obviously we all love netball, but I don’t think the rules of the sport translate well to the men’s game considering their strength and height. There’s simply too many rules protecting attackers and when there are players well over 2 metres it just doesn’t become particularly engaging anymore. If this format is going to continue as a TV product I think they should introduce more restrictions, perhaps no feeds from the centre third and even using male players who are more similar in stature and style to those from the female game. At least Levi wasn’t in the team this time.
Has anyone, in NZ, found the full replays of these games anywhere? It appears Sky Sports has only the highlights packages and given I’ve only seen two games I’d love to be able to watch the rest. Thanks in advance.
Enter Cadbury on Search and full replays of final day. 1st is on Monday. No other days showing at this point
Random idea, not something I’ve actually given much thought to just spur of the moment, maybe the mens game needs a decently bigger court? I know that’s not really feasible at this time facility wise either but yeah maybe something for the future? As someone mentioned, no feeds from the centre third could also be – worthwhile rule.
Here’s another thought, no more playing the men on live tv. It’s got boring, evident by the spare seats, and lack of atmosphere.
I really liked the mixed team idea.
Personally (as pure spectator of the game) I would like to see the series with:
SF
NZA
Mixed Team A or an All Star team (ex and current players, not just from NZ)
Mixed Team BIn saying that, I’m also aware that this is a special platform for the Mens team. To be able to play in front of a live crowd, and have people around the world watching them would be a massive privilege.
The Mens game has a long ways to go, to get any type of recognition. But at least NNZ is trying to help them by including them in these series.- This reply was modified 2 years, 7 months ago by TB.
While we’re at it can we have three game series of an ANZP selection against a SSN selection and also bring back the World 7. Always enjoy see different players together.
Yep men’s netball against women doesn’t need to be on TV.
Have mentioned earlier that SF, nza, mixed invitational and under21s would be ideal or instead of mixed like @TB said maybe an allstars team. Loved the world’s 7 series was exciting way back then.
Have the men stay to playing against men like the Mystics and stars did during the season.
No other sports do we see the national men v women.
No the court doesn’t need to be bigger, basketball with men is played on a court the same size and on average they are bigger than those playing netball.I don’t mind the concept. What a great display of our great game.
Yes the men have a different skill set, but how good seeing their athleticism, speed, vision etc. It’s a completely different game they play.
The purpose of this Cadbury series was for the ferns to prep for CG. To play back to back games, to play against different opponents and styles of games, and to work on combinations in the lead up to Birmingham.SSN teams and I’m sure ANZ teams have been playing locals mens teams/athletes for years, it’s just now it’s been telecasted.
I’m sure the mens players love challenging themselves against the best in the world.Well done netball NZ
I must say, it does feel like the SFs have gotten it so easy compared to the AllBlacks. I think it was @nesian that pointed that out some months ago, in the last test series. DNT has still got the backing from the public (I’m definitely still backing her). Our ABs are getting crucified atm on social media. They are screaming for a new coach and players.
