1/4 time: NZ 18-13
Wilson 14/15 (93%)
Mes 4/7 (57%)Ekenasio 9/9 (100%)
Metuarau 4/4 (100%)The Ferns on top. Looking the more composed of the two teams. The combo of Crampton & Souness working very well with Wilson. Now we see wholesale changes!
Only two players remain on court for the Ferns. Team now:
GS Nweke
GA Selby-Rickit
WA Saunders
C Heffernan
WD Johnson
GD Karaka
GK JuryThe only one of NZA that looks like they should be a fern is Ekenasio
Good competitive start to the 2nd Q. Grace Nweke shaky on the shot. 4/8 so far. NZ 23-21 after 8 mins.
Ferns up 25-24 after 11. Sam Winders having a good quarter and still the A team sitting on 100% shooting.
Nice elbow shove there Tiana!! She needs to stop with the passing in and out of the circle.
Ekenasio’s shot still as sweet as ever, but Ferns lead 29-27 approaching 1/2 time.
So many people wanted Tiana in this team, she’s showing why she didn’t make it. Good shooting but habits that won’t fly in internationals
1/2 time: NZ 30-27
Nweke 8/12 (67%)
Selby-Rickit 4/4 (100%)Ekenasio 17/17 (100%)
Metuarau 10/11 (91%)Ferns leading the gains and turnovers stats and generally looking the more assured, but the A team’s great shooting stats keeping them well in it.
Ekenasio looks amazing but we need her to play GA at full fitness.
Saunders and Nweke feed combo still isn’t doing it for me. Early days.
The Ferns starting to assert some authority on the game now. 39-30 after 5mins 3rd Q. This is their current lineup:
GS Nweke
GA Wilson
WA Crampton
C Souness
WD Johnson
GD Fitzpatrick
GK JuryFerns well ahead on two vital stats, gains and turnovers. Looking impressive in this quarter. Up 43-33 after 10mins.
3/4 time: NZ 52-40
That quarter was 22-13 for the Ferns. 18/22 from Nweke, 4/4 from Wilson, and 19 assists between Wilson, Crampton and Souness without a single turnover. Plus one gain each between Johnson, Fitzpatrick and Jury. NZ looking good.
Ferns have had 28 more attempts than the A team. They currently lead 62-44 after 10mins last Q.
