GAINS: STERLING, WILSON 5Watched as much of the Ferns game I could with a lagging Sky stream and jumping between the 7s (well done Aussie women) and the swimming (great effort from Clareburt), although that may be down to watching on my phone versus the laptop.
Ferns won the game 53-40 – the She-Cranes just wouldn’t go away. Funnily enough the difference on the Gold Coast four year ago was also 13 goals, albeit higher scoring than today, 64-51.
At this stage, and Taurua may be holding her cards close to her chest, but we’ve only got three circle defenders (Fitzpatrick, Jury and Karaka). Unsure if she plans to unleash Johnson at GD against the Roses?
Similarly, we’ve got three shooters it seems after two games. Mes had a run at GA and WA today. I’d actually rather her play GS in this team, I find she really clogs space at the top of the circle and then passes it out anyway without turning to look at her shooter. Our fortunes seem to really be resting on Nweke’s young shoulders…
Midcourt is ‘building’. Some good passages of play from Crampton, hopefully Souness has blown the cobwebs out and turns on the afterburners from Tues onwards, Heffernan doesn’t look out of place at this level. Noted the calf socks which we haven’t seen from her before. We are needing a fully fit Heffernan for sure.
Our starting seven for game two against Uganda 🌿

Gains: Jury 4Mes is so horribly out of form, with her shooting. Today she seemed to have no confidence to even try a attempt. This is hardly a taxing tournament. Play 2 games have a day off, play another 2 have a day off. I’m still dumbfounded Ekenasio missed selection, yet out of form players, and injured players get selected.
A little worried about the Ferns after that match!! I’m not very sure that Saunders is adding much to the side, along with Mes and Johnson.
TPSR has impressed me so far, but I was always a big fan of her movement and shot. When she’s on, she’s on!!
Souness playing a little more risk adverse than we saw in the Cadbury series. Hopefully she picks up and plays with her known flare more in the coming days.
It concerns me that in both games an easy centre pass intercept was gained by both NI and Ugandas GD
Is anyone able to find the New Zealand vs Uganda game on BBC iplayer? I’m able to find the Australia and England game but can’t find the New Zealand game :/
So I’ve only been able to watch the two NZ games on Sky in NZ, given they aren’t even on the advertised channels.
Re Hadley, yesterday I heard she was carrying a leg niggle.
I’ve got 9 games recorded Maryann. Sky are showing heaps of netball.
Doesn’t look like NZ or Jamaica games are showing on 7plus from last night. Shame s as they both looked like games
Jamaica v RSA still not on the replay list. Nothing after the first game on Day 2 yet.
The mini option is good.
what channel is the netball on Mcleod? So far I have taped the marathon and some weightlifting (yes instead of netball). So please tell how you have managed this on Sky.
I series link record on my sky.
Wow so I didn’t watch the NZ match but that score line seems a little too close for comfort…
