New Zealand has struggled with the more unorthodox African style of play for a few years now. Malawi almost beat them in Glasgow and Sydney, then they won on the Gold Coast. I don’t think their defenders really know what to do against the longer balls and the aerial style of play. In that period in the beginning of the third quarter where Uganda were up 7-1, the defenders were just standing still looking a bit confused. They seem to come up better against more structured teams.
Cholhok is a much stronger option than Peace, it’s only a matter of time before we see her in SSN. I expect she’ll come in when we see a retirement from one of the existing dominant GSs (Fowler, Wallace etc.).
Overall I think Australia and Jamaica have looked the most impressive so far, narrowly followed by England. Beckford and Rochester-Dixon seem to have stepped up for Jamaica which could be a huge difference.
I actually think it’s an interesting subject, especially where special effort or thought has been put into designing the uniforms, JR. I’m certainly not talking about sex appeal or peoples physique. But the main reason I brought it up was because there isn’t a lot going on in the thread. I’ll mind my Ps and Qs next time.
Edit: looks like JR has deleted their post. Let’s move on from uniforms then. LOL.

That’s a shame, what happened with Malawi’s dress.
I do like the T&T design!!I don’t mind the pattern of the Australian, but I don’t like the strip,it would’ve been nice if the pattern blended in with the rest of the dress if that made sense.
I watched the Uganda-NZ match and I observed something special with Uganda. Their patience to throw as many passes and still work their way to the shooting circle is what got them close to the Ferns scoreline. Also, someone mentioned the NZ defenders being clueless at times. I noticed the Uganda GA loves milking penalties which worked in her favour yesterday.
The NS Birmingham Scoop for Day 1 has an explanation about the dresses at the start :good:
Also, I watched the SA-Jamaica game and noticed that Jamaica were setting up a box defence and doing proper drives and cuts. This signals Rob Wright’s influence…could be dangerous for the Top 3 teams

You’re onto something there.
Think it’s laughable to single one player out when the whole team wasn’t playing as it should.
But think Noel’s has a few tricks up her sleeve. And isn’t showing her true cards yet, why ruin the show too early?
Shame some ppls just can’t seem to move on from the fact certain players were picked and not picked.
The girls are there for better or worse, sad they’re not fully supported by all NZlanders.Diamonds looked impressive in their game against Scotland. They are strong across the board, with so many combinations.
Is it me, or does Austin look better at WA than Liz Watson? I know we can’t take much out of these easier games, but Austin looks really good at WA.SF game was interesting. The team did look very reliant on Nweke and Jury. We also looked very hesitant bringing the ball down court. I do think this has set them up well coming into the final stages of these round games. I still want to see Johnson in at GD.
Kinda agree @minkie, was a sub par game for the Ferns.
Watched it back tonoght and a few things i noticed.
If the Ferns ran their strongest line up as in quarter 1 the whole match, wouldve been a much bigger score.
Midcourt is struggling for impact, both Shannon and Gina have been non existent when on court. Both struggle to feed Nweke.
Nweke is open A LOT but not getting any ball, the GA not even sitting her a lot of the time before spinning out for a feed to outside the circle. Mes needs to get her confidence back, we all know she rides up or down as her confidence goes (and tbh a lot of players do)Loving heffernen on court and i was originally a sceptic but man shes been showing her hussle in both c and wd. Her in c and souness in wa needs to be run i reckon.
Interesting that Pam Cookey thinks Johnson would be her strongest/starting GD for the Ferns.
Uganda were actually quiet dirty throughout the court and shouldve got a few warnings for continually rough, late or unneccessary contact.
Ferns will come back with better form against Malawi tomorrow i reckon.
I haven’t read of anyone not supporting the Ferns. Just because I don’t agree with some of the selections, I still got up at 7am on Sat and Sun to watch.
Some players played very poorly yesterday, does Noels have tricks up her sleeve, I’m not so sure. You’d have to have your head in the clouds not to see all the negative Kiwi Nancy’s on social media and other groups. ‘Where and why isn’t Meels there’ ‘Wheres Poi? ‘Why is Tiana or Dunn in team’, the best one was ‘is Bailey playing C as well as GA/WA’. Getting up to watch game and 100 % supporting are two different things, I cant watch NZ games here but will support regardless whose in team. Be interesting to see what Noel’s does and when.

Social media will always be like that. Lots of people ripped into some of the Women’s 7s players yesterday after their loss to Australia. Netball is the biggest event for most NZ comm games followers. Performances like yesterday annoy people and rightly so.
