Good game this. Northern Ireland giving it a red hot go so far.

A good match so far! Unfortunately Kumwenda/Mvula still doesn’t seem to be clicking, the attack looks much better with Simtowe/Kumwenda. It might be an idea to try them the other way around, Kumwenda doesn’t seem to have the energy for GA.

Vinkhumbo a bit more quiet than normal, but she doesn’t have the best support out in front of her.

They look much better with Chimaliro in GA and either Kumwenda or Mvula in GS. Gets very crowded with both Kumwenda and Mvula in there. Though their best quarter against England was with them both in the circle so, who knows.

My mistake, it’s not Chimaliro in right now, it’s Simtowe.

Simtowe is such a great player, her combination with Kumwenda is wonderful. It’s like the Malawi of old! She’s really been under-utilised the past few years, but Kumwenda hasn’t played for Malawi in a few years. Galeta is a better WA option than Bridget Kumwenda.

Bringing Bowman on was a huge mistake, Crosbie was doing a great job.

If they didn’t make those changes at half time which hurt them in the start of the 3rd I think Northern Ireland had a good chance at that.

                        Full time: Malawi 54-51

Northern Ireland actually won the last Q. They were close all game except for the 3rd Q. they took Crosbie off at 1/2 time and that was a big mistake.

I think Malawi are still too rusty to challenge New Zealand, but they had some great passages of play. Kumwenda/Simtowe/Galeta/Lwazi is their best attacking line. I thought Dambo was good at GD, but I guess they’ll play the tall defenders against Nweke. It should be very close against Uganda!

Malawi and Uganda will be a cracking game!

Love the technical insights from Lisa Alexander. Have found her much more interesting in commentary than Cookey in the previous game.

Yeah LA does show some insight but she does tend to waffle a bit and also self brag a bit… ‘when i coached’ or ‘at the London pulse, my girls’ yeah yeah we get it. But ill take that over someone yelling and screaming into the mic every other play.
