Maybe SM is giving Braz the opportunity to play her way in to it…?
I do think when Braz is quiet she tries to over-correct it and do too much and is then even less effective.Moloney at WD. Weston at WD. Lots of options.
Bruce needs to watch her distance, getting a few calls. Not many silly challenges from her this tournament which is really promising to see.
I don’t mind that Austin is still being given chances in GA because I worry about relying too much on Steph Wood, but I don’t particularly want to see this attacking line again. I think Stacey needs to leave Austin in GA for the game now to see if she settles. Maybe Wood to WA for her playmaking?
Australia’s defensive pressure dropped in that last quarter.
Diamonds need another option or two in C. But nothing tried.
Lisa Alexander on commentary suggesting Bueta as a backup option for WA to give Watson a rest…?!
Not sure if it’s just more confidence in her knee or the standard of players around her/the occasion that she thrives in but Austin seems so much more comfortable for the diamonds than she does for the vixens.
Austin is playing well in GA and shooting with accuracy and confidence. Bueta – Austin would look different as a combination with a different midcourt combination ahead of them. Hadley – Watson were on fire early.
I’ve seen Bueta play WA exactly once and I would NOT put her there- all the turnovers without the brilliant shooting and athleticism. (Round 11 2017 if anybody is curious for any reason  )

Austin has improved as the game has gone along. I think she plays better with Koenen than Bueta too.
Much better defensive pressure from Diamonds that quarter. Providing cover for the circle defenders. Weston played well at WD.
Australia should rest Watson against Wales. Austin or Wood in WA as Koenen can play a full game. Or even play Moloney there against Wales with Brazill at C. Not convinced Wood isn’t under load management. Or if they want to play Watson make it a quarter at C with Austin at WA.
Hadley looked very gingerly on her calf 🙁
South Africa have some great young shooting talent coming through. Wonderful to see.
Weston is not or ever a good WD option imo.
I think the Austin/Bueta combination would work better if it was the other way around.
Austin combines much better with Koenen than with Bueta. They have a better understanding of how to balance the circle. I think going forward they’ll probably be looking to use her more at WA, especially now with the injury concern to Hadley.
Paige was really hobbling at the end there, I think it might have even been a new injury. Hopefully she’ll be ok for the Jamaica game, I don’t think Moloney’s feeding is up to the level required against Sterling and Wilson. It’s starting to look unlikely though 🙁
