Rowe and Creak doing a great job up against some tough defence. Still yet to miss. Aus 34-17
Really enjoying this Australian attack. Now just put Watson at C for a quarter to combine with Austin please. Somewhat surprised Cox didn’t come up with that option as she raved about Austin in WA.
If Watson doesn’t get a run at C this game, I’m going to take that as a sign that Hadley’s injury is looking okay.
Brazill was much better in WD that quarter.
1/2 time: Australia 42-18
The first Q was 20-11 and the second Q 22-7. Midcourt mistakes hurt the Welsh and Australia really capitalised. Wales still sitting on 100% from their 18 attempts so far.
BUETA 18/18
KOENEN 24/27CREAK 11/11
ROWE 7/7Australia with 13 gains already to half time. Courtney Bruce is an absolute menace around the circle, getting hands to so many passes. 6 deflections already. For Wales, Bethan Dyke, Betsy Creak and Ella Powell-Davies are doing everything they can to lift their team.
Australian lineup for Q3
GS Koenen
GA Wood
WA Austin
C Moloney
WD Aryang
GD Weston
GK KlauAus 44-19
Numerous changes being made here for Wales. They are trying everything they can, but Australian defence is smothering them in this Q. Aus 61-24
Another chance for Wales to convert. And they do! Unfortunately, another shot from Rowe on the buzzer doesn’t count. 3/4 time score is Aus 64-25.
Watson into C, Moloney to WD, Bueta back to GA. Wood must be being managed?
Gee it would be nice if they could get some mops.
D-fencr, Wood slipped near the end of the quarter and was limping.
Australia a bit guilty of taking their foot off the pedal here? Wales is certainly fighting it out right to the end. Aus 70-30
Definitely not the best last quarter by Australia, they looked a bit fatigued to my eyes.
Defensively I liked Aryang in WD tonight. To win gold I think we’d need Steph Wood on at GA.
Disappointing final quarter by Diamonds. The shooting combination really didn’t work in that quarter. Bueta looked like she had had a sleep on the bench. Brazill has the WD bib over Moloney who didn’t have a great quarter. Did Austin sense the opportunity of prove yourself in this combination and play the big games and choke a little?
Definitely not a slick performance.
Australia look quite tired.
Is it just me or is not being able to hear the crowd making it quite lacklustre. Wales did some good things in that game and it would be nice to hear some cheering. The same could be said about some of Australia’s plays, may not be as much cheering though.
Full time: Australia 79-33
