Just WOW! I am so looking forward to the games tonight. Think Jamaica will pip the ferns – for the ferns to win their zone will need to be on song and I think Wilson at GS and TPSR at GA to match up against the Jamaican defence I am not game to predict Eng vs Aus. I think Aus need Hadley, even if at WA, to have any chance. She and Watson seem to work best as a combo and with the shooters. I’d also like to see Klau at GK and Aryang at WD, if not GD. They need to do something different to the last time they matched up on England – they will be ready for that. If Hadley is still unavailable then I think Lizzie is needed at C and either Wood or Austin at WA – depending on who they run at the shooting end. If Koenen is on at GS then I’d have Wood at WA and Bueta at GA.

why oh why would you have Fitzpatrick on?? her elevation is lacking against ‘regular’ sized shooters – so you put her against the total beast of a player that is Fowler??? (and I use beast in a 100% complimentary way)

if that’s the way Noels is going to play it – sadly I think NZ don’t have a s#it show of winning

Yeah same- Fitzpatrick is just not effective against these taller shooters. I think Jury is being saved for impact, as well as Nweke. Those 2 can change the dynamic of the game quickly.

Wilson had some nice games against sterling the last time they met, although she obviously missing Eke in front.

I’m tipping a Jamaica v England final. I just don’t think the ferns have the attacking firepower to beat Wilson and Sterling. And I’m not confident in Australia’s ability to swing momentum without a timeout.

For all the debate about imports in the SSN, I actually don’t think that’s the thing having the most impact. For me it’s the ability to work out a game plan on the fly and shifting momentum themselves without talking to their coach every 5 minutes.

I think this is smart by DNT.

Nweke is the perfect player for Sterling to dominate, she won’t last a full game with that pressure. A somewhat moving circle will give Sterling and Wilson more to think about in the beginning. Maia Wilson also has great body position for taking good ball on angles.

Let’s face it, Jury or Fitzpatrick are both going to struggle against Fowler. At least Fitzpatrick will have a bit more of a physical presence.

@Stoj – ‘ For me it’s the ability to work out a game plan on the fly and shifting momentum themselves without talking to their coach every 5 minutes’ – I absolutely agree with this as well.

@stoj I don’t buy your theory about timeouts. Mainly because there were other shifts in momentum against Jamaica the other night and 4 SSN players out of the 7 for Jamaica seemed to handle it ok without a timeout.

Also, not having timeouts hasn’t made NZ any stronger against the others in the top 4. None of them play in the SSN.

                                  Umpires for this game:
                                  Joshua Bowring
                                  Bronwen Adams

                                  Reserve Umpire:
                                  Tara Warner

What’s happened to Gary Burgess? He can’t umpire the other semi, so it means he’s not doing either. Has he been overtaken?
