If Noel’s used this as preparation for the WC, then at last 6 players can crossed of the list. Ekenasio must come back as captain asap
Could be the 2 English umpires for three gold medal game? Gary and Louise?
England are niggly and they question every call, that’s probably why you didn’t see the usual kiwi style of umpiring take over.
In the grand final Jamaica will probably double team the most prolific Aussie shooter while such attention can do little to stop Fowler. Expect that once Jamaica get their nose in front their play will slow to a methodical game of “keepings off” while ensuring that they score off their every centre pass. In that case Australia trying to play catch up will be picked off and if they slow to view their options on the court will again be anticipated by a moving barrage of bodies. Diamonds to win need an early lead and a fast game that forces Jamaica to rush and make mistakes. The days of Jamaica’s players getting tired are gone thanks to their coaching addition Rob Wright who knows what it will take for Jamaica to win.
wow – so much to unpack…in both games I feel like the start nest the tone for both games and the team that was behind could just never get back into it.
Jamaica was brilliant, and their midcourt was outstanding….interestingly, K Williams as been excellent at WA, but doesn’t look to have the conditioning on A Thomas for example, which to me confirms that ‘fitness isn’t everything. Dixon Rochester has been my player of the tournament so far. It feels like Jamaica have matured, but stil have enough youth to run games out.
Reading between the lines, i have always felt DNT was try to be optimistic, but still saying enough to suggest that she didn’t have high hopes. I truly believe that They will challenge for gold next year if the can get Watson and Burger back, plus include Dunn.
As for England, I actually think the Coach made the right call with starting 7, because as awesome as Cardwell has been i felt like Harten had the experience against Aus, but the change needed to come much soon, and it needed to Harten off, not Housby. Most suprisingly, It was Mentor and Guscoth who i found had virtually no impact on the game….Guscoth in particular hasn’t quite lived up to expectations for me. I Absolutely LOVE Cardwell – her fiesty attitude and shoot from anywhere mentality will be fireworks in SSN. Thunderbirds to contest finals – calling it now. I did feel England were really hard done by with the umpiring.
For Aus, Moloney had a brilliant game – really upped the ball speed which helped a lot. Gretel just absolutely dominated. So good to see Bruce getting called more for her dirty tactics, she really isn’t as clean as she used to be a few years ago. Diamonds look good, but the momentum of Jamaica will be unstoppablei. feel. Jamaica by 5 in the final for me.
I’m still a bit confused as to why DNT made a video that laid out the game plan she was going for with her selections. Very odd.
I’m very nervous for Australia but I do think some comments here suggest Australia were dominated by Jamaica. Australia actually led for most of the match against them and only lost by 2. They made some poor decisions in the final quarter, and the coach needs to take responsibility for that too.
This is the Diamonds we are talking about. They won’t just be hoping to perform better, they will review and analyse and attempt to poke holes in the Jamaican game.
I am absolutely gutted and extremely disappointed about NZs performance.
I do not put any of the blame on the players, this solely sits with DNT and her coaching crew.
I’ve always thought DNT was great at getting the combinations right. She was totally wrong. How do you not start with two of your most dominant players????
Did she not learn from the mistake Mystics made by not starting Nweke in their semi???Her starting 7 was more of a case about being too worried about the opposition, than about “what’s our strengths”. Before the game started I thought Jamaica have us, purely because of this 7 started. I bet Rob Wright was like “sweeeet” 🤦♂️😂😂
I hope when this campaign is finished, reporters/journalists ask DNT why Kayla Johnson was NEVER used in GD?
There’s a whole lot of other questions I’d like them to grill her on, but that’s my first one.I’m wondering if cracks are happening again in the ferns, they looked a unhappy lot, with no direction. If ferns flop in the Jamaica and Australia series, I’d be asking for a new coach.
Just throwing this out there – if Netball did make it to the Olympics, Brisbane being the most likely chance, how would they go about selecting a Great Britain team? Coach, players, everything. Would be quite interesting to see how they handled that, or if they would just make it the English team given they are the highest ranked.
Although the latter option probably doesn’t fit in with the core values of selecting an Olympic team. Equal opportunity for selection etc.

Great insight into the england game, firstly I totally agree with Dixon -Rochester , she is phenomenal, re the starting 7 for England , I think they went the right way starting Harten, I think the problem lies with the mid court, especially Metcalfe and Clarke, have to admit I’m not a fan of either and no suprise that diamonds monstered them, same with Mentor, the WA GK And C position is gonna be a worry for a while,
As for the final, 1 player who missed out on selection who I think would have a mighty input against Jamaica is PARMENTER,… just saying💪That’s an interesting thought about if netball got to the Olympics. Are there players in the current Wales/Scotland/NI teams that could make it into an England team?
I definitely think half this ferns team will go after this campaign, regardless of if they win tonight. They’ve been completely outplayed against the top teams, not just at the games but in the quad series as well.
Their last win was the first match in the English series last year- since then there’s been 8 matches against top 5 sides, only winning 2 against SA.
Crampton is a bench player imo.. Eke needs to come back as captain, the confidence she instills in her teammates is what the need right now. Overhaul the mid court and defensive, surprisingly I feel the shooting end minus Mes is strong enough.
I think we might see a few Ferns play their last games in the black dress against England overnight.
TBH I’d take more losses in the TJ Series and Con Cup if there’s a full clean out of that midcourt. I’d rather the likes of Gordon, MRB and Poi are given opportunities now instead of picked for NWC and expected to turn it on straight away.
Wonder if Watson will be tempted back for either series.. You feel we’re defensively in a holding pattern until her and Burger come back. Karin is out for the rest of the year, right?
It appears the English whining has carried on after the game; Geva’s IG story says “beaten by a better team and on the whistle today” :negative:
I originally didn’t care who wins the bronze medal match but after that post from Geva I’m “go Silver Ferns!!”
