What’s possibly more frustrating than the Ferns’ performances of the past two days is my stream on my phone is atrocious.
Will call it and hope for a miracle when I wake in the morning 😂
Picking 🇯🇲 for Gold, too. Night all.
Good game. 12-12
Great start from Nweke! The feeders are really letting it go
Lets hope the Kiwis can keep up this intensity! great energy
1/4 time: NZ 14-13
NWEKE 12/12
SELBY-RICKIT 2/4CARDWELL 9/10
HOUSBY 4/4Lovely attacking play from NZL. England defence just haven’t been able to hold them back, even with some lucky calls going their way. The best Crampton has played all tournament.
Nat Metcalf has really dropped off in these playoff games. I wonder if the pressure has gotten to her a bit, she was great in the pool games.
England lack someone who can really come through for intercepts and match the speed and athleticism of the other top teams. I wonder if they should have picked Fadoju.
Nweke starting strong… of course I type that right as she gets called for contact. NZ occasionally looking a bit cramped in attack but are doing well. TPSR very shaky on the shot and not doing a whole lot of playmaking. Heffernan looking good, she deserves to be in that NWC team more than any other midcourter at this stage.
Housby not quite looking her best to me, playing the ball around a bit too much. Mentor battling with Nweke, maybe she could try to push her high? Malcolm looks better in WD than C.
Not too much happening defensively yet but so far a good game to watch!

Nweke showing that she really should have started yesterday. In fact, both of these teams are probably the lineups that should have started in the semis.
Interesting that yesterday when calls went against England, Pam Cookey and England were ready to crucify the NZ umpires. But today, when England get several lucky/unfair calls, Pam Cookey pulls the “they are volunteers, they do their best” card.
Keep working it to the circle edge girls and then feed it into Grace. That’s what’s working us.
NZ 19-17
Nothing in it between the teams atm but both sides seem a bit deflated/tired (which they probably are!) and lacking the usual zip/hustle we’re used to seeing from both sides. Not sure if they are just cancelling each other out or everyone is just exhausted.
Nweke doing much better against Mentor today, England still struggling to create midcourt attacking opportunities like Vs Aus yesterday. Cardwell has been good as expected, Jury is doing well against her with a great rejection and long arms but it’s not phasing her accuracy.
Would be good to see SDL and Allison get more of a run out today at some point to close off their campaign and inject a bit more energy onto court. Heffernan getting quite a few great interceptions.
NZ 23-19
Heffernan is a star, I can’t wait to see her be a mainstay in the Ferns for years to come.
Wish more people could be awake to watch this 😂 Benefits of being in WA- of course the drawback is the 3am gold medal I can’t sacrifice my Monday energy for.
Great to see NZ playing well! Jury getting into her ANZP form at long last, Crampton solid but not flashy.NZ up by 6 now.
