@TB – sorry missed an emoji. I was joking a little, but I think it’s harsh to say the umpires gifted it to australia. If players were getting pinged for offensive contact more than once, then it is up to them to adjust.
Breakout tournament for Garbin. Two full games and excellent shooting %.
I am curious what Karaka said to Garbin at the end. It felt like it was a show support for the recent stuff happening off the court and if it was, that is incredibly gracious and wonderful to see.

You compare that 3rd qtr run from the Aussies – literally NZ got whistled out of the contest.
To game 1 1st qtr run from NZ – no whistle involved, we just got on a good run.I feel like there was a talking to the umpires at half time (standard). And then that qtr went straight to Aus 🤷♂️
Agree about Garbin! She really played to her potential in both games. Great combination with Steph Wood.
Why would a shooter on 78% get mvp over a Shooter who gets 92%? Strange pick Aussie! As for that penalty count against NZ I think most of those came in that 3rd quarter when the umpires swallowed their whistles!!
Crazy to think that the best Aussie GS to play in the Con Cup can’t get a starting shooter role in her national competition. Glad to see Garbin get the opportunity to show her best work.
I thought SM made the right changes at the right time in tonight’s game and that made a big difference. JLP was the better C across the series (still not a fan of her really – would have loved Proud to get more of a chance).
I thought NZ played well tonight, but didn’t adjust to the whistle well enough. And that made all the difference.
And Garbin’s club coach was right there watching!
I thought Wood thoroughly deserved MVP. She was the general in the attack end, and took a lot of the shooting volume when she needed to. We can’t always give it to Lizzy Watson! Haha.
Um yeah, I think I would have given POTM to Garbin. Garbin, Watson, Wood & Price were the best for Australia.
Not only did we take back the Constellation Cup tonight, we got our 100th win over NZ since 1938! 🤘🏽#ShineBright #ConstellationCup pic.twitter.com/XrZKMb0fkl

In regard to the high penalty count tonight, one factor was an unusually large number of obstruction calls. The Silver Ferns gave away 36 obstruction penalties and Australia 28!
So for the Ferns, 3 WAs got used and 1 didn’t. Which I found really interesting considering that MRB was a training partner for Comm Games.
I think it came down to bad luck for MRB, being selected for the NZ leg and playing off against Toeava.
I believe DNT original plan was to give each WA a game. However I don’t think anyone thought that Toeava would have such a dominant showing. Hence she got the start again for game two.Atm, it’s Toeava and then daylight. Going based on this series I’d say Crampton will keep her spot. Souness and Heffernan to share C.
You don’t normally see two specialist WAs selected. But Crampton and Toeava have very different styles, which will benefit the Ferns. -
