Are Glasgow and Samason having any niggles tidied up?

Ian, are your worries about Samason that she will be included with NZ, or that this will cause her to head in that direction?

I would’ve had Glasgow there as well, I just think she has so much potential. But very glad to see Williams and Garrett as reserves, I am a big fan of those two.

Glasgow had a lot of tape throughout SSN so maybe she was unavailable? Surely she’d be selected based on SSN form if available.

Austin has a nice long shot so I don’t have concerns for her but rather Garbin who is not a long rage shooter.

Samason had knee surgery mid year and pulled out of ANC with Fury. Sure maybe she is interested in NZ but then they haven’t selected her either so maybe she is just recovering to have a strong pre season?

Oh good points about Glasgow’s taping, I completely forgot about that. Thought Mannix might have fitted in there somewhere, she didn’t have too bad a season and I’m sure she’d like to make a Diamonds return, but I can understand why they’d want to blood new defenders instead- all our current defenders are around the same age apart from RBD and we could be in trouble with the next cycle’s generational change.

There are probably players being rested, but we never get any of that info. We just get a list of names and have to assume they are the pick of the bunch. Letherbarrow is listed as a reserve and I would definitely have her instead of Garbin. Especially when Garbin is in the Diamonds squad v England.

Yes, I am worried Samason may end up in the NZ team in future. This would appear to be the perfect tournament for her. Would have loved to see her in action for Australia.

Interesting fact- just noticed Lightning’s Instagram mentions that Batcheldor was originally selected in the squad but obviously ruled out with injury. Makes her injury even more devastating 😥

Surely Glasgow and Samason were unavailable because you’d have to imagine if they were available they would be the first ones chosen (at least in my eyes they are). Even Mannix I thought might get a shot to try and get back into diamonds but again we don’t know who was and wasn’t available

Mannix is in Israel. Has been on quite an extensive holiday through Europe and Malawi for MJ’s wedding. A lot of players have been overseas but most are back now in contrast to Mannix. Seems like the first offseason in quite a few years where she hasn’t had to have surgery.

Good team, very fast midcourt. Pleased that Dunn gets a go, she was NZs best long range shooter last time
