Maybe there was a trade? Garbin for McCollin? Garbin could be the starting GS for Collingwood w Nelson be an impact player? Collingwood would have more balance/versatility with Sinclair/Garbin/Nelson. Swifts would also be stronger cos McCollin and Wallace have their connection both being from T&T (on top of England Housby/Hathornthwaite combo).

Garbin wouldn’t get the start over Nelson, not if Nelson continues improving the way she did last year in any case. I really can’t see Garbin being starting GS anywhere except T’Birds. Except for maybe to go home to Fever, I doubt she’d have left the Swifts if she wasn’t in with a chance at starting so I think we might see her in GA a lot next year (as much as we all want to see her playing GS).

Yeah, agree. Garbin wouldn’t have a huge chance of unhinging any of the linchpin GS’s, but for most of those teams she would be a certain starter at GA and would be able to form a solid combination, and provide those teams excellent GS cover. Maybe week in/week out at GA may improve that part of her game too.

Tbirds would be interesting for Garbin considering Obst didn’t select her for the WYC in 2017 because she wasn’t good enough at GA. Garbin could have been the difference for Australia.

If Dwan is leaving Firebirds, she could be handy there. I seriously think they need a change at GS and Garbin’s strength could suit Bueta’s game.

I agree with the thought Garbin is moving for either an open spot or a competitive spot. I want her at Adelaide as I she would grow exponentially with court time and take the GS bib off Potgeiter IMO. I don’t think she would unseat Horjus in GA. Horjus is a play maker and with Nankivell and McDonald (plus Tayla Williams potentially) the TBirds don’t really need Horjus in WA. Certainly can see Garbin taking Gooden’s spot in the 10.

Collingwood would be interesting. Nelson has two hands firmly on the GS bib now and Sinclair finished the year very strongly in GA. I think they might promote Nyah Allen into the 10 this year given their starters are now established. Last year they weren’t so needed more experience in their 3rd shooter.

For an open GA spot Vixens is the obvious choice (pending other potential moves over the league). But as I have said earlier I’m just not sure it’s the right move for Garbin or Vixens.

I’d love to see Garbin to the firebirds and Dwan to Vixens.

I reckon with haythornthwaite going back to England, maybe Hannah Mundy might go to the swift’s because of Liz Watson!

They’ll be looking for a specialist WD for that spot, surely

Why would Mundy go to the Swifts? She’d be behind Proud and Hadley. May as well stay in Melbourne. Tayla Fraser is actually a C/ WA anyway so Swifts should look for a WD / C. Amy Sligar would be perfect if they want to stay local. Or if they prefer to continue their South Australian theme then either Tyler Orr or Tayla Williams would also fit in very well not to mention Emily Burgess who was a TP this year.

Knew this was coming with Nat but still feel devastated. First Sophie Garbin now her hopefully there will not be a 3rd. How will this affect the Swifts I’m really not sure, real family unit who all played for each other and accepted their role on the bench. Who will replace them? Maybe need specialist WD? I’m going for Ash Brazil. To replace Garbin they might give Singleton a chance

I think the Swifts definitely need a specialist WD. As perfect as Brazil would be, I don’t think she would leave Victoria as she’s been named in the 2022 AFLW Collingwood team.

Is trading between teams actually allowed though? That would imply that it is part of the contracts and players don’t necessarily have to agree to the move…

Vixens have another announcement tonight. Fully expecting an unsurprising announcement such as Watson or Weston.
