I think Dwan will end up at Vixens BUT I wouldn’t base it off of Vixens following her on Instagram as she used to be a TP there so would be followed already anyways.

Swift’s also follow Allie Smith now. Not sure if that’s new or not though.

Being followed by accounts on Instagram doesn’t mean much, unless the accounts followed the players very recently. If you go through players’ followers on a computer they are in chronological order, and you can see that Smith was followed by Proud and the Swifts back to back over the last few days. Hadley also started following Smith recently. If she’s not signing with them I would say that there have at least been discussions.

I think Firebirds could end up ruing the losses of Dwan and Ellis, especially Dwan. Maybe they’ll be able to lure her back after Aiken retires. It’s going to be hard for them to push for Finals unless they manage to get Dehaney.

It’s interesting how many clubs are signing players for two years. Teams like the Swifts keeping their core isn’t a surprise, but I didn’t expect players moving to new clubs to sign on for two years (like Garbin).

One thing is for sure if teams carry on signing players for 2 years there will be hardly any moves next year. Looking at the Swifts the most interesting signings will be coming soon. a will Fraser sign? Who will replace Garbin, Haythornthwaite, Moore, think if Allie Smith signs or another WD then they will be in the starting 7. Will Swifts look to either O Shannassy and Singleton to come in or will they sign players from other clubs. Think the shooting circle is very important and might go for experience, not sure who though.

Personally I think Singleton is more than up to SSN level, the issue is that she really is a GA specialist and although Housby is a great GS changeup I’m not sure if she would be effective there over 60 minutes. I feel like the Firebirds should sign Singleton, especially under the coaching of Anderson I think she’d be a great GA option for them. Much stronger than Stower.

The obvious choice for the Swifts would be Letherbarrow, but I’m not sure if they would be able to manage that unless Giants move her down to a TP role again. I think it will be tough to convince a more experienced player to sit behind Housby and Wallace, even if the Swifts are known for using their bench far more than other clubs. Maybe Gooden?

Didn’t think of Gooden, could be what they need for a season. Who else is there. Kaylia Stanton or Caitlin Bassett. Both have experience

@al_ex McCollin wouldn’t mind bench sitting at Swifts. I’ve noticed went she played in the UK, NZ, Aus, she was in teams ranked at the bottom of the ladder. A spot at Swifts could lift her gane and she’s already got that connection with Wallace

I actually thought McCollin was pretty good at the Steel – she played through an ankle injury, and pretty much had to hold together the shooting circle when both O’Connell, and Heffernan did their knees – hard to be a new comer in a team that doesn’t necessarily suit your style of play – and when you don’t know who your shooting partner is going to be week to week.

so she could be a good pick up for the Swifts where she has a good combo already with Wallace. alternatively it would be the ideal time for Swifts to bring in a young one – when they would be guaranteed to be on with either Wallace or Housby, and Hadley/Proud – with such a settled line up it would take a lot of pressure off to start with

The Smith – Swifts – Hadley – Proud connections are all new. That’s not where I heard it though so I just see that as supporting.

Are the Vixens following Dwan? I can’t see that. But what I can see is her following / followed by the Vixens marketing / comms manager …

If FBs go local for their 3rd shooter I’d prefer they sign Batcheldor over Stower. Reekers also deserves to be a TP next year.

It’d be great if Swifts could get Letherbarrow otherwise I’d like to see Singleton.

let’s see what happens in the next few days with Smith. if she is leaving Vixens will announce I guess, could be smokescreen for Eddy returning, Wonder if Vixens post as to sending polo to Sydney could be referring to player going to Swifts. Who knows, my guesses have all been wrong so far.

I rate McCollin but she’s similar to Singleton, not really impactful except at GA. She was great for the Steel in 2019 and I felt she wasn’t given the right opportunities at Magpies this year, but I’m not sure if she really adds more value than the other players mentioned. She’d be great for Fever or Firebirds who don’t need extra GS backup. It would definitely be nice for T&T to see her play at the Swifts with Wallace though.

Nankivell has resigned which is great – but doesn’t say whether its a 1 or 2 year term?

Just checked in the TBirds Instagram story and it says 2022 – doesn’t make reference in the pic in their post. Confusing!

Yep, I was going to comment on this yesterday. The thunderbirds are announcing their signings through a newspaper like design. All of the posts so far have said 2021 Oct-2022 even though the players have signed 2 year deals. Very confusing.

I think in this case it seems Nankivell has only signed for 1 season. Slightly worrying as she really could be nabbed by any team, very talented. Let’s hope Thunderbirds manage to keep her around long-term.

On that note, I think SSN should have a trade portal like the NBA does. You can see how long players are signed for.

Re Stanton potentially to the Lightning.. I just don’t think she cuts it at SSN level.
