Hinchliffe to Lightning makes sense. Couldn’t see her leaving QLD with her ACL rehab (which would be quite a bit behind Austin). As I said earlier Kylee Byrne is a popular coach amongst some of the young players in QLD that she has worked with before. That’s how they got Cassidy. Might be enough to draw Dwan as well?
As for Austin. If she wants to come back to Diamonds she needs court time not to be used as an impact. Dwyer has emerged. Hay also had an amazing season. Austin wa ta court time, starting 7. Thinking back to Diamonds selection the starting GS is Koenen and Austin is unlikely to go to Lightning to form a combination with her and fight Wood for court time. But go to Vixens and establish a combination with Watson? Yeah that’s likely.
Could Dwan be headed to Swifts? The Swifts use their bench pretty regularly and Dwan would offer a great moving circle with Housby?
Confirmed Austin to the vixens! What a fantastic move for her
Dwan to TBirds – 2 year deal. Announcement coming out shortly.
How good if Tbirds can also sign Wallam then?
I wonder if Gabi ever considered going home to NSW, Swifts need a specialist WD and she would have been perfect. Although I can see her being a one club player with Firebirds.
Selfishly I am stoked with this move. Austin has always been one of my favourite players so to have her join the Vixens is  Also offsets the loss of Smith for me.
For Austin I think it’s a great move. Austin will be the starting GA and supported by Watson. Both returning from major injuries they can support each other through that process.
I think Austin’s recruitment also squeezed Smith out. Austin can play WA which pushes Watson to C and Moloney to WD. Samason will cover GA in those instances. Also suspect we will see a reasonable amount of Mundy in C allowing Moloney to WD. Also allows them to rest MJ and to develop Samason in GS which will be the long term play for them.
Vixens are coming together nicely. I’m expecting Eddy and MJ but really not sure who the 10th player will be. Dehaney if she stays but otherwise I’m not even sure if they should go for a circle defender or defensive midcourter.
Tomorrow they will announce a resigning.
Hopefully the TBirds can improve their 21% win ratio since 2014 and stop the revolving door at Mile End. Probably starts with the coach talking to all players on the squad.
I’m loving Dwan to TBirds!! Would be awesome if they signed Bassett but I do think spect Potgeiter. Bassett would be an amazing mentor for Horjus and Dwan.
I’m really liking the team Adelaide are building. Definitely my second team. Hope they sign Williams and Orr. Might be too tight to fit Lucy Austin in unfortunately.
B-) The Vixens current IG story shows them following Austin. Ha I’ll pay that!
I never thought Austin would leave Giants considering her rehab but good on her for making the move. Vixens are a great club and it’s exciting for both them and her that she will be a part of their revival. Very exciting that Letherbarrow will be able to keep her contract at Giants as well.
Wilson is a great signing for T’Birds, she’s been great for them. Their defence end is built around Sterling though, so if they can’t keep her it’s going to be tough.
Dwan vs Horjus for the starting bid would be interesting. Interesting if they’ve both signed for two years as well. They are very similar players, I’m not sure if there’s enough firepower in their circle if Potgieter would be the third shooter. It would make more sense for Dwan to go to Fever and Glasgow to go back to Adelaide. It would be so odd to see Glasgow and Wallam playing out at GA for Fever whilst Horjus/Dwan might be used in GS for T’Birds. If they can secure a more dominant and consistent GS though it could work out well, especially with Horjus out at WA.
It’s so good to see so many Aussie shooters in starting positions for the team.
And still to come are 3 shooters that would be great signings for either Tbirds or Lightning (Bassett, Wallam or Glasgow).
That is the signing of the window so far. Did not think Austin would move especially considering she is injured, For me the Vixens team is looking very strong and will be one of the favourites next year. Dwan to Thunderbirds seems a strange one but she will play regularly I guess, for me now watching Swifts to see what their Final two signings are. Will need to be WD like Smith, Eddy or Bragg and the third shooter who knows. Gooden, Bassett, Stanton are available but a long shot could be Kim Borger, hate to see her leave VNSL. if they promoted Local talent would be good but would the whole team be strong enough for title defence
