Batcheldor is stronger than Stower IMO. Would be interesting to know if Firebirds had offered a contract or not.

With shooting spots drying up I do wonder if we will see Wallam or not.

I hope we see Wallam somewhere, I guess even if it is on the bench for Fever.

@NB12 there’s still Thunderbirds – I’d definitely sign her ahead of Potgieter

Yes, agree. Someone on here seems certain Potgieter is signed though :(

So excited to see Batcheldor sign with Lightning! She is so talented. The game has played the other week against Vicki Wilson’s Lightning development side must have secured her a contract.

Letherbarrow and Sligar the final two signings for the Giants. Really amazing depth they have across the attacking end and midcourt. Such quality options. Once again defence is an issue though. I’m not sure if Moore, Brandley and McDonell is enough firepower to win a premiership.

At this stage I’d say Swifts, Vixens and probably Fever are looking strongest. Collingwood and Giants not far behind.

Struggling to understand how the lightning will balance a defence end of Shimmin, Dehaney, Hinchliffe and Pretorious. 3 GK’s, 1 GD’s and no McAuliffe to play WD?? So strange.

@enozlas Hinchcliffe won’t be available for at least the first half of the season, and when she is back she’s pretty handy at WD, same as Shimmin who can cover all three positions, Cassidy can also play WD, and if they retain Maddie Hinchcliffe she is a WD/C, so they’ll have good cover across the court (maybe just lacking a little in WA cover again)

I’m not so sure about the attacking end of giants, who plays WA if something happens to Hay? Please don’t say Parmenter

Sligar is a bit like Fraser, she plays all three centre court positions very well. She’s probably more of a WD/C but I think she can definitely develop into a WA. They can always bring in Miller as well.

Yeah I guess it was a tough decision sliga or miller, both outstanding young players

I don’t understand why Lightning signed Hinchliffe who won’t be available for probably most of next season, but didn’t sign Ash Unie on the basis of she is still recovering from ACL injury although she should be good to go come Round 1. Unie also provides them much needed WD cover….

I guess it would be like how Vixens didn’t sign Samason this season – they’re still young players just returning from injury and it can’t be guaranteed that they will return to their pre-injury fitness/level. Would be a bit of a gamble for the club. In saying that, hopefully Unie makes a great recovery and is pushing for a contract in 2023!

Not sure about Lightning’s defence heavy lineup. While I was hoping that Maddie Hinchliffe would be signed, they might be better off going for an attacking mid unless they’re prepared to put Cassidy in WA or Wood (with Batcheldor at GA).

Waylay, I guess that shows their opinion of Hinchliffe and Unie as players, and how badly they wanted to get Hinchliffe for the future.

I don’t get the Giants roster.
Even Lisa Alexander said in her post grand final article their priority signing should be a WA/C to ease the pressure on Hay and Price, but instead they have a squad where five players (Hay, Price, Parmenter, Sligar and Moore) can play WD and no genuine WA other than Hay.
Parmenter is too influential and valuable to move from WD, so that leaves debutant Sligar who has played 99% of her netball as a WD/C. If that’s the case, it’s a big ask of a first-year player to fill in in a position she’s largely unfamiliar with.
