      I think the interview where CBass said her knees were still bad was on the code? It was an article about her retirement – more just saying that the operations she had didn’t give the results she hoped for, and then training with the mens team showed her how bad recovery is for her now

        I read it on codesports – as far as I can tell her knees are still acting up, and she said she couldn’t walk after training with NSW Mens team. I’ll be overjoyed if she’s recovered more since then because I honestly don’t know who else could be an option

          Swift’s need a shooter who is proven against world class defenders. Do you think it’s possible to take a contracted player from the vitality super league? Surely the swift’s have enough money in the pool to buy someone out.
          I’m thinking Venter or Peace? Also doesn’t kunwendas sister shoot?

            Doesn’t Venter have a torn calf? Proscovia seems like a very loyal and thankful person so I can’t see her breaking a contract.

            All that aside why would a Superleague club let them break a contract?

              The ‘available’ (not contracted anywhere) players with SSN experience I can think of:

              – Bassett (pending fitness);
              – Folau (does she even want to return to netball?);
              – Sam Gooden;
              – Kristina Brice;
              – Kaylia Stanton;
              – Emma Ryde (believe she is injured but don’t know details);
              – Georgia Marshall (where is she?);

                I think the Swifts need to weigh up bringing someone in for one season v the future. Are they able to get someone that is elite quality who will help them push to finals? Will a player they bring in do significantly better than one of their TPs (ie make finals as opposed to not make finals)? Because if they are only going to be good enough to push for say top 6 then you may as well develop a TP.

                  @Tully Georgia Marshall is on the ERNA Hawks (Netball NSW) team list for 2022

                    I’m with Tully. They may as well do some development, nothing is set in stone this season anyway.

                    That’s also a great little list you’ve put together of some potential candidates.

                    Brice and Gooden would be handy, Stanton is borderline but I think the experience of those players would be useful. It is not helpful for your development players to be getting constantly hammered.

                      What a shame Kim Borger isn’t around to play. That would be fun.

                        Swifts should go after Ellie Cardwell. Whether or not she would leave Manchester Thunder mid -season is a different question though.

                          For me, Briony Ackle is about winning, which is what makes her a good coach (IMO). If she feels they can win the trophy with a TP, I don’t think she’d hesitate in using them. At the same time, if she thinks there’s another player out there who’s not contracted but is very strong, she’d easily take them.
                          Be interesting to see what she does!

                            Akle is all about bringing in a big name replacement like Rore and Metcalf rather than developing a player I agree. But the timing of the other leagues (ANZC and Super League) aren’t working in her favour this time.

                              Can clubs offer contracts to other clubs training partners? I feel Lucy Austin would be a great fit for the swifts. But I guess why would they go after an Adelaide TP when they’ve got their own development players to chose from.

                                I was thinking the same thing. Austin was fabulous in the preseason games I saw.

                                  I think a club can go after other clubs training partners as they aren’t contracted.
                                  How’s Stanton playing in the Vnl? She can’t be a good replacement considering she won’t need to play GA.
