TPs do sign contracts. When SSN started they had protected and unprotected TPs. But I don’t think that exists anymore. TBirds would need to release Austin from her TP contract I would imagine.
I feel Stanton has had her chances and unfortunately failed to step up when she had them. I understand her position is mainly GS and she played a lot of GA but I feel clubs will prefer a fresh untried emerging talent over someone who unfortunately has a history of poor performances.
As far as I know, until a training partner has played an actual SSN game during the season, any other team is allowed to sign them up if they need a player? Isn’t that right?
Yep, I have the same understanding Ian. I think any of the TPs are up for grabs until they play an SSN game. Not sure what happens after that.
I’d love to see Austin get picked up.
I’m less concerned with the content of the argument but more with the fact that we’re getting articles like this. A few years ago, we barely got articles discussing the result every round. To get an article like this from fox, albeit they are now a partner, is pretty nice to see. We usually get more in depth articles only from past players.
I am absolutely loving the professionalism and depth that fox has brought to the sport already!! I know there were some hiccups on the weekend with scoreboards and whatnot but it was round one so I’ll cut them some slack.
Dedicated netball shows, podcasts, articles… it’s incredible!
Hope all those who complain about having to pay for the streaming (even though two games are accessible free) can see how important this partnership will be for growing our sport even more.Haha, sorry for the confusion Maryann – meant Lucy Austin, TP with Thunderbirds.
Totally agree Enozlas. The FOX coverage is great, and I am sure will get better as each week.
To all: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE sign up to KAYO even on a free account. They have so many supporting shows for SSN. Pre-show, weekly round-up etc. even you put it on in the background, those numbers are extremely important.
On Fox tonight Anne Sargent said they will select the diamonds squad after round 5 (in the lead up to round 6). This is the squad from which Comm Games and World Cup teams will be selected. It is the squad and up to 22 players.
Go on Annie pick Rahni.
A bit premature to make this the WC Squad isn’t it? I feel like in the current phase of SSN we’re in, so much will change between this year and the next in terms of young players stepping up.
