They said CWG SQUAD was being announced.
Depends how you define squad. They already have a squad. Typically 12 athletes and 3 reserves are nominated to CGA.
Great start to this game, basically going goal for goal with Vixens having the one turnover advantage. But now Bueta steps up with a super shot. 12-12. Wallam and Austin both looking great.
Wallam looking good. Great hold, great hands, great shot.
Bueta with another super shot and Firebirds out to a 17-13 lead. McKinnis calls a timeout.
Can’t wait to see how Austin grows over this season. To me she looks a little hesitant and maybe lacking the confident calmness we are used to from her (understandably). So can’t wait for those nerves to wear off.
Ravailion’s deliberate obstruction really should be called. That aside she is outplaying Moloney at this point.
Wallam has started very well and looks to be nerveless.
Austin looks very nervous. Bring Rahni on. Eddy out of play too much. Relieves pressure on the feed.
1/4 time: Firebirds 18-15
Wallam 12/12
Bueta 4/4Kumwenda 10/10
Austin 5/9Great opening quarter. Top quality. Firebirds just shading it. Donnell Wallam doing everything expected of her at this point. Austin has missed a few shots unfortunately.
Surprised not to see Rahni Samason get the start. I’m not watching live, is she injured/sick?
Tough one for Simone now. Austin has two turnovers this quarter already. Does she make the change or give Austin time to grow her confidence?
Wallam is having a great game but her footwork is questionable. Only one step called so far.
Once again, Kim Jenner racking up the penalties. 11 already in the first 5 minutes of the 2nd Q. She’s just got to find a way to stay in play! Firebirds are up though 24-20.
@ TB Samason is on the bench. Given that Barkmeyer is in Brisbane as cover you would assume Rahni is fit to play.
Lewis looks like she is coming on.
Lewis now on to try to combat Wallam. Firebirds 27-23
This is a great game!! Firebirds attack is so fun to watch. Wallam looks like she has been playing SSN for years. Very evenly matched across the court atm, I think the key will be the defence ends. Both attacking circles dominant atm. Jenner needs to tidy up
