Loving Jovic in this game (well, I guess the last few games as well). She just seems to be everywhere.
Pies would well and truly ha e a double figure lead if not for the Super Shot. Pies have been much better team in “normal time”.
1/2 time: Magpies 37-31
Nelson 31/33
Garbin 6/9Harten 21/23
Dwyer 3/6Once again, Magpies built up a lead, only to have it whittled down in the power play. If it wasn’t for the super shot, Magpies would be well in front. Giants have now scored 7, with 6 to Harten.
Giants have come out firing! This is more like it from them. What a start to this 3rd quarter. Magpies 40-39.
Giants hit the front! This quarter is 10-3!
Giants force another Magpies turnover and Harten lands her 7th super shot of the night to extend the lead to 5!
It’s hard to believe what happened in this quarter! Just to finish it off, Magpies were trying for the final goal, but Price gets a touch, Giants take it down court and Harten lands her 9th super shot in the final seconds. That quarter was 24-10!
3/4 time: Giants 55-47
Nelson 39/42
Sinclair 1/2Harten 33/36
Dwyer 12/16Remarkable turnaround. Giants were just on fire in that quarter, while Magpies went completely off the boil. Can they fight back and change the momentum?
I know umpiring has been spoken about a lot but one thing I’ve really noticed this season is in SSN the umpires are really bad at not acknowledging the “taken” advantage and are often bringing the ball back to set a penalty when it’s clear the players have tried to play to the advantage and take the penalty very quickly… If you watch ANZP the umpires are fantastic at keeping up with the pace of the players and let the game flow so much more by acknowledging the penalty as “taken”. It’s been really frustrating, this round in particular.
Harten with her 10th super shot to wrap it all up! What a crazy game. Magpies on top in the first half, but that 3rd quarter from Giants turned the match on its head. Giants 69-60
We’ve just seen a good example of the tactics of the super shot. In the first half, Magpies were on top and Giants used the super shot to keep in touch. But in that last quarter when Giants had the lead, they just kept taking the one and it was Magpies playing catch up.
Full time: Giants 69-60

7 1/2 minutes gone and T’birds already have more goals than they scored in the entire first quarter last round. They lead 9-7.
Feeling the frustration so many international viewers must have trying to watch SSN games. I’m on holiday atm trying to watch the match and the website just says “stream starting soon” no matter how many times I refresh… 🤬🤬🤬
Very embarrassing that this is what the “best league in the world” is offering. -
