Oh Wood off already. Why did they risk her?

Steph Wood went off very early in the game after landing a bit awkwardly. Let’s hope that troublesome knee is okay. Meanwhile, Vixens are on fire, up by 6 after just 5 minutes!

Interesting the commentators talking in detail about Vixens’ Centre Pass.

Wood back out on court now, and landing super shots as if nothing has happened. Now Batcheldor scores one. Vixens still with a good lead though.

Swish, swish, swish……I was relieved when Wood missed that last one.

Glad to see Wood is OK.

You’d think by now the Vixens would have had improved in defending the super shot but they are actually just getting worse each week. Teams have zero issues getting the ball in that area and shooting. Housby burned them but Magpies restricted her. Lightning with 3 super shots already.

Vixens CP is interesting. A number of occasions Moloney should have let it go to Watson. She didn’t which meant Austin came over the line as well. That limits their second phase options.

Yeah Vixens’ defence of the super shot is not great….maybe they’re not worrying about it at training and working on winning in the other 40 minutes with great defence of the usual kind and strong attack.

    1/4 time: Vixens 19-13

    Kumwenda 16/19
    Austin 3/4

    Batcheldor 4/5
    Wood 2/3

7 turnovers to 2 against Lightning is the big stat from the first quarter. Vixens in control for most of it, although 3 Lightning super shots made their score look more respectable.

Kumwenda with numerous short misses today.

Hopefully Wood is okay and Lightning aren’t risking her unnecessarily.

Kippa with her requisite intercept for the game. Kumwenda short again.

% low so far for Vixens today. If they’re relying on winning with strong attack including great % for 60 minutes they’re going to need the % to increase given Lightning are, so far, doing great on the Super Shot.

Vixens have extended their lead to 9 in this second quarter. Kate Moloney is in terrific form at the moment, looking every bit a Diamonds player.

Steph Wood lands a super shot and promptly runs off court. Koenen on to replace her and she scores as well to reduce the gap to 6. Now Batcheldor with a super shot and the lead is 4!

Well if Vixens aren’t practicing defending the super shot at training then they need to start ASAP. They also need to improve their attack of it. Without Samason that is very poor as well.

Austin seems really stilted in her movement the circle. She’s clearly setting up screens for MJ but not moving off and drawing the defenders which is clogging it up.
