Two turnovers from Potgieter, they need to be very careful here. Good lead but Giants can sink those super shots.

Harten is seating on 11 turnovers… she already had negative nnp last week… Please don’t tell me that her season is just going to amount up to higher negative npp numbers.

The lead is 12 as we go to a timeout. 4 minutes left for Harten to try to weave some incredible magic, but Tbirds have the answers at this stage.

@Netballcrazy1 utterly embarrassing they can’t get the players right at this point. Sort it out fox.

I am SO SICK of hearing about the giants being impacted… so many excuses. as point out earlier they do have 7 contracted players so if they don’t have the depth then so be it.
This won’t be the last time this happens are we really setting a precedent for the excuses we’re going to allow teams to use???

Julie Fitzgerald has a history of not having depth on her bench/not utilizing it since the start of SSN so this if anything is a reflection of that.

Nankivell with a few poor passing choices in the last few transitions, causing turnovers. Lots of Giant’s defensive pressure through the transition.

Sterling is having a heck of a game.

Harten finished with -53.5 NNP!! is that a record?

The Potgieter/Horjus combo is far and away best for T’birds – maybe some super shot cameos from Dwan are useful but Horjus’ courtplay is much cleaner. T’birds winning second half 31-18 with Horjus at GA.

I also don’t think they have the rebounding capabilities or accuracy to do a moving circle during super shot time, compared to Samason/Austin or Wood/Batcheldor for example.

I have hope for the Potgeiter/Dwan combo with Horjus at WA in the long run…
Dwan has only played 2 games with Potgeiter/the Tbirds when on the flip side this is 3rd season together for the rest of the team so I think it’s only natural it will take time to gel.
I’ve personally seen enough in small doses in the first two games to see the potential.

Yes, I believe that’s very close to a record low NNP score for Harten. Meanwhile she scored 36 in my fantasy netball scores which I think is a fairer assessment. She didn’t have a great game, but she wasn’t so bad that she deserved anything like -53.5!!!

Must admit I went for Sterling over Bruce but there you go…

Bit unfair on Harten, does a wealth of work sometimes too much but still I prefer her on court, ive never really got the hype with Maddie Hay, , good WA seem very hard to come by?

I mean with 15 gains, 5 intercepts, 5 deflections, 8 rebounds, and a pickup, I probably would’ve gone with Sterling too.

Good to see Rav there again, I am hoping she has a blinder of a season to push for the Diamonds squad. We need some attacking centres, I don’t want Moloney there and Watson should be at WA.

I thought Proud had the better of Moloney on the weekend when they were directly against each other. I haven’t looked but Moloney seems to be incurring a lot of contacts this season. But could be wrong just something I thought on the weekend.

Actually speaking of stats does anyone know of if there is somewhere I can find stat broken down in a team by team comparison? Eg, ranking of the 8 teams by intercepts or rebounds or super shots etc to see which teams have the most and least?

Price was brilliant in round 1. At this point I would say Braz, Price, Hadley and Watson have the the inside running on selection. Not saying I would go that way but given they are performing as individual athletes and won the Quad Series for anyone else to push in they will have to be amazing to give SM a reason to drop someone from there.

I wonder if Klau playing GD opens the door a little for Mannix to push for selection?

As for Horjus – Dwan combo, I think they need time. They may not be as competitive on rebounds as Austin – Samason but they are both 6 feet. But in terms of court play I’d say the first combination looked smoother than the latter has (although it only lasted about 5 minutes). Despite that the latter combination should be developed so the Horjus – Dwan should definitely be pursued. Horjus is the stronger player IMO so should be the starting GA.
