Dwan on for Potgieter who’s a bit off the boil.
1/2 time: Lightning 26-24
Dwan 3/6
Horjus 13/14Koenen 22/24
Batcheldor 1/1A 15-11 quarter to the visitors has them up by 2. A much-improved effort from them. In their previous two games, they had conceded 46 & 40 goals by this point. Today just 24.
I thought Bueta went very quiet in that second half. It put a lot of pressure onto Wallam, who really stood up. I really hope she makes the Diamonds squad.
Pitman/Verity were the big difference. Their experience really shone through.3/4 time: Tbirds 39-38
Potgieter 22/27
Dwan 3/7Batcheldor 4/5
Wood 4/8What a crazy game! There are just so many changes of possession. Neither side can seem to play with any fluency and composure. Absolutely no idea who’s going to win this one!
I think Adelaide lose a bit of playmaking ability with Dwan in GA vs Horjus. I do like Dwan but she doesn’t often get herself near the post and she seems to have the yips from mid-range. Can see how that style would have worked with Romelda but Potgieter isn’t going to take the same shooting load as Romelda did, so Dwan needs to step up in terms of volume.
Boy, this is hectic. If you like mistake-free netball, this sure ain’t it. But it’s close! Tbirds 45-43
With the Tbirds in their heritage uniform, I keep mistaking Potgieter for Kristen Heinrich!
Please leave Horjus on at GA Tania in these tense moments.
Full time: Lightning 52-51
Tbirds had more gains, fewer turnovers, higher NNP and were successful with more shots. And yet they lost.
Yes, this was one of the rare games where super shots effectively changed the result. Without them, the score was Tbirds 49-47.
Full time: Lightning 52-51
Potgieter 28/33 (85%)
Horjus 13/15 (87%)
Dwan 8/14 (57%)Koenen 34/41 (83%)
Wood 8/12 (67%)
Batcheldor 5/7 (71%)Super shots:
T’birds 2/5
Lightning 5/10Assists: Horjus 16
Gains: Walsh, Wilson, Sterling 6POTM: Laura Scherian (Lightning)
Yes, it was a big mistake not having Horjus at GA in the final power play.
Why wasn’t Horjus shooting, after Dawn missed those critical goals in the mid range, she should’ve been subbed off. Why!!! Bad coaching decision, too many changes.
We had another milestone today to finish off Round 3.
Congrats to Laura Scherian for bringing up her 100th national league game in that nail-bitting win over @AdelaideTBirds

Supershot will be the death of me, albeit I get more passionate about the topic when it’s my Thunderbirds who lose 😂
