The fact that Wilson made the team of the week despot Obst’s erratic subs… amazing.
Is that the 4th week in a row that we’ve seen Rav make team of the week? SM I hope
You’re watching. One of the biggest loses for lightning has been Maddy McAuliffe. The 1v1 pressure, tall hands over and attack through court was sorely underestimated by many and the loss of her from the WD position has exposed the defence end big time.
Cloz, I believe you are correct. And it’s not to say the WD options this season are making big mistakes, but it really illustrates what a great wing defence is all about. It’s also exposed poor Dehaney and made her look bad when who knows how she would have done with a classic WD and GD in front of her
I’ve thought this for a while now. The problem with lightening is the kylie. She’d rather give certain players more court time, to develop their games, then play players who can win them games. For example with Koanen and Peace. Noelene played them both 50/50 which created a strong Dynamic shooting circle, that kept teams guessing. With Kylie she’s revolving everything around Koanen, in many games last year Peace did brilliantly and she still persisted with playing Koanen and only played Peace for those 10 minutes.
This year I’m finding she’s still doing the same, revolving the shooting circle around her and not Steph wood.
This is also happening with Dehaney, why did the sign another GK like henchclife? Dehaney is by far the better option and flourishes with court time and gets benched for a less impactful player.I feel for Dehaney. We know what she can produce behind a strong GD and WD. She was brilliant at Vixens. Obviously Dehaney moved to be a 60 minute player but the way things are going she must wonder why she left? Hasn’t got more court time than she probably would have had at Vixens. Look at Lewis in her old spot? Thriving under the defensive structures of McKinnis and the support of Eddy, Weston and Mannix.
As individual players Dehaney is far more impactful and intimidating than Hinchliffe. Of course Lightning expected to have Pretorious at GD but their lack of focus on WD in recruiting has been exposed.
You do have to wonder if they made the right decision bringing M. Hinchliffe in as the replacement player for Karla, not saying Maddie is a bad player by any means, but maybe Ash Unie would have been a better option combination wise. A true tagging GD/WD.
2 Diamonds’ squad members – and different from those in the Team of the Week for Rounds 5 and 6.
Got to feel for Dehaney, cause I would think a big reason why she signed was to play with Pretorious. That would have been a great combination.
