1/4 time: Firebirds 15-13
Harten 7/7
Dwyer 6/7Wallam 10/14
Bueta 4/416 turnovers in the first Q. Compare that to the previous game where they were only 4! Parmenter having a great game for Giants. Bueta working overtime for Firebirds.
That was brilliant. RBD keeping it in, onto Wallam, with a great pass to Bueta who converts. Firebirds 19-15
Firebirds with a lead of 6 as we approach the power play in the 2nd Q.
The Firebirds’ defence is putting all sorts of pressure on the Giants at the moment, creating turnovers. They lead by 10 as we go into the power play.
Dwyer is clearly cooked tonight. Give Matisse a go, honestly. You won’t lose anything from it.
Sadly, Sophie Dwyer has a bad case of the yips at the moment and that’s certainly not helping Giants get back into this one. Firebirds lead by 12
This is the problem with Julie Fitzgerald’s coaching. She never gives any other players a go, so when it is needed, it is like starting from scratch.
Dwyer is off, so she should be dragged. By leaving her out there, she is basically saying that her spot in the 7 isn’t based on performance. That does not send a good message to a young player!
Ravaillion for the Diamonds please!!!
3/4 time: Firebirds 53-41
Harten 22/23 (96%)
Dwyer 17/27 (63%)Wallam 41/49 (84%)
Bueta 11/12 (92%)Giants seemed to fall apart a bit there. Firebirds put the pressure on and Giants just couldn’t go with them. Ravaillion, Bueta & Wallam combining well.
Miao22miao22 Kimmy Rav for the Diamonds indeed.
I wasn’t expecting a margin this big in the Firebirds Giants game.
Really? You weren’t expecting this? Wait until they meet Fever
A barrage of Jo Harten super shots is adding some respectability to the Giants scoreline towards the end of this game.
Can I be controversial and say that I am not sure Firebirds would be quite as strong with Romelda?
A good 13 goal win for Firebirds. After a close first half, that dominant 3rd Q blew the game apart.
