Wow and Thunderbirds back within 3! Supershot is coming in handy instead of working against them today. Sterling having a cracker and the positional changes are working.

TBirds should have given Austin a contract over Williams (I’d say McDonald actually but Obst rates McDonald above Williams). Given how much they use Horjus at WA they easily could have carried 3 shooters and Horjus.

            And it’s making a difference, T’Birds only 3 down.

And now Horjus again. All of a sudden it’s Firebirds making the errors in this quarter. And Thunderbirds are making them pay. From 41-31 to 42-40 in a few minutes.

I hope Obst keeps this shooting circle. It’s effective against this defensive line-up in regular time not just super-shot time..
pressure on Megan Anderson now she needs to bring Bakewell-Doran back on.

Jenner has 6 penalties in a quarter, double Bakewell-Doran‘s in a half.

Yes, keep Horjus and Dwan on in goals.

                    nup….good grief.

Wish she would have kept that lineup.

                          3/4 time: Firebirds 42-40

                          Wallam 21/27
                          Bueta 17/18

                          Dwan 14/20
                          Horjus 5/6

Out of nowhere, Thunderbirds are right in this and with all the momentum. Firebirds are looking shaky. Not quite sure why Bakewell-Doran was taken off. But it’s a move that didn’t really work.

6 1/2 minutes left. Firebirds by 4 but by no means looking secure, especially with the power play coming up.

Bakewell-Doran completely solidifying Jenner’s spot on the sidelines for the rest of the season.

In fairness, it’s really been very good all-court defence by both sides, making passing difficult, but there’s been some poor ones. Firebirds now taking advantage of another couple of Tbirds turnovers and the lead is out to 10 again.

                                  Full time: Firebirds 60-50

                                  Wallam 30/37 (81%)
                                  Bueta 26/28 (93%)
                                  TOTAL 56/65 (86%)

                                  Potgieter 20/23 (87%)
                                  Dwan 18/27 (67%)
                                  Horjus 6/8 (75%)
                                  TOTAL 44/58 (76%)

                                  Super shots:
                                  Firebirds 4/9
                                  Tbirds 6/15

                                  Assists: Ravaillion 23
                                  Gains: Sterling 12

                                  POTM: Gretel Bueta

Firebirds come away with the win, but it’s been a real battle. Tbirds ended up with 30 turnovers. That’s just too many. Bueta takes the POTM but Sterling with an incredible 12 gains kept her team in the match most of the way.
