3/4 time: Magpies 51-48
Wallam 28/36
Bueta 18/19Nelson 41/50
Garbin 8/13Firebirds cut the gap in half in that Q. Wallam had a chance to get even closer before 3/4 time but missed with a super shot attempt. 3 is not a big lead but Magpies have looked the better side.
Mimi three turnovers in less than three minutes
And where is the backup to firebirds defence? So many taps off rebounds and in-play deflections and no one picking them up…
The difference in the feeding of Nelson compared to Wallam has been quite noticeable. Jovic and Browne pinpointing their passes so well.
Now it’s down to the power play and unless Wallam and Bueta can shoot the lights out, it’s a Magpies win.
And again, right when it counted argh
And you’re exactly right Ian.
good win for magpies, firebirds just not on today. anyone knows why jodi ann ward wasnt left on court the whole time?
The emotions of the past week showing in that game. Rav missing out on Diamonds and the excitement of Wallam being selected.
Braz showing her worth when she has a good structure behind her, shutting down Dunkley was key to that win.
Something isn’t right with Ward, I think she has been getting penalised out of games and it is having an impact on her performance.

A well-deserved 67-59 win for Magpies. Firebirds were disappointing. They just weren’t on today. Magpies didn’t let them get into any rhythm. Magpies were very controlled. Molly Jovic gets the MVP… 35 feeds, 12 assists, ZERO turnovers.
This match was 3rd v last. Watching it, you would have thought Magpies were the team in 3rd.
Full time: Magpies 67-59
Wallam 31/41 (76%)
Bueta 24/27 (89%)
TOTAL 55/68 (81%)Nelson 54/65 (83%)
Garbin 11/18 (61%)
Sinclair 2/4 (50%)
TOTAL 67/87 (77%)Super shots:
Firebirds 4/13
Magpies 0/2Assists: Browne 28
Gains: Brazill 5POTM: Molly Jovic (Magpies)
Magpies zero super shots, and only 2 attempts for the whole game. Firebirds scored 4 super shots, but I’d suggest they lost ground attempting them with the 9 misses they had.
Molly Jovic a well deserved MVP, but Ash Braz must have been nipping at her heels for the honour as well. Magpies defence was smothering and Firebirds attack expensive as a result.
magpies were onto almost every loose ball and rebound. the two teams who were seemingly fighting to be wooden spooners (lightning and magpies) have just lifted immensely!
