One second to go in the quarter, umpire asks for the penalty to be set in firebirds goal third. Hoik and hope to Aallam and she basically catches and shoots it in the air and scores!

Rav and Hadley both struggling, a few errors from each. WA’s from both sides stepping up

    1/4 time: Firebirds 15-14

    Wallam 12/17
    Bueta 3/3

    Fawns 7/10
    Housby 7/7

Wallam with a goal right on 1/4 time sees Firebirds hit the front. This game has been a bit of a hot mess. So chaotic and frantic. Can you believe it… 23 turnovers in one Q?

Sarah Klau, the only player on court not responsible for a turnover in that first Q. Unbelievable. The ball was going all over the place.

And Klau has read Wallam’s playbook. She’s not normally a favourite of mine but I like her clever play today (and safe hands!)

Firebirds up 27-22 as we go into the Power 5 2nd Q.

    1/2 time: Firebirds 35-27

    Wallam 28/33
    Bueta 7/8

    Fawns 13/18
    Housby 14/14

A strong Q from Firebirds, winning it 20-13, including 16/16 from Wallam after a shaky first Q. Bakewell-Doran having a ripper of a game, while Housby is doing her best to keep Swifts in it.

    Too frantic.

Dunkley looks much more confident feeding Wallam than Rav does.

6 mins to go in this 3rd Q and Firebirds have an 11-goal lead. Starting to really stamp some authority on the game. The feeding of Wallam in particular has improved a lot on last week against the Magpies.

    3/4 time: Firebirds 55-42

    Wallam 45/53
    Bueta 10/11

    Housby 24/26
    Singleton 0/1

After a chaotic opening Q, Firebirds are now playing much more controlled netball. Another 20 goals in that Q, to Swifts’ 15 (with the aid of 3 Housby super shots).

All of a sudden, the Swifts see a chance and the Firebirds are looking very anxious. Lead back to just 7 now.

Ruby Bakewell-Doran is surely a future Diamond. Possibly sooner rather than later!

Another great piece of work by Bakewell-Doran and just like that, the lead is back to 10. Briony Akle urging her team on for another big effort. Firebirds 63-53
