66-31 with 6mins left. This is just embarrassing now. She should just empty the bench for the last 30 seconds or something and put herself, Carla and Romelda out there, just for the heck of it.

Interviewer asked Karaka about WD – her comment was that obviously it’s very new to her. Nice to see her in form after long covid.

@Maryann I was sure I’d seen her there before – maybe I was thinking about when she played C during the fast 5

I know these are quite extraordinary circumstances, but this sort of thing used to happen a lot with Jamaica… Show up to big events with their strongest team and play really well. But then when it’s just a regular tour, show up with a vastly weakened team and get thrashed. Even before the passport issues, it was already a weakened team that was being sent to NZ. With the passport stuff on top of that, it’s turned into a real shambles.

@Ian – disappointing because they didn’t send a top level team, not sure what the ‘injuries’ are to their three players. Being cynical here but for the players who play SSN this is the only down time they have before pre-season starts?

Interesting, in the interview tonight Connie Francis said they had to travel a long time today – I wonder where their hotel was.

Jamaica should never be invited to NZ ever again. Win a silver at com games and they treated this series, like they were to good for the ferns. University exams, injuries etc. I don’t buy it one bit. Netball NZ have always done everything for Jamaica, but hopefully never again. Rant over good night

@mcleod that is very harsh of you. Your comment speaks privilege.

You do realise that the Sunshine Girls aren’t being paid like the Silver Ferns.

Also, Fowler and Sterling ‘have to’ attend their university lectures (as instructed by their University – they got no choice).

We always talk about blooding the young ones, Jamaica just did that 🤦🏾‍♀️

Is that a genuine excuse for Fowler and Sterling? If so, why wasn’t it announced way back when this series was first planned?

I liked the speed the Ferns were playing with – reminded me of when the Ferns played at their best under Ruth Aitken. It was also pleasing to see Wilson come on and introduce a moving circle. Karaka was outstanding. It’s amazing how much better when players (Wilson, MRB, SF) are played in their best positions! Noeline showing she is learning lessons for trying to be too clever in the CWGs.

Jamaica did well considering for six quarters, then ran out of puff for the last two.

I’m not sure it’s justified for people to be blasting jamaica for not playing Sterling and Fowler. Even if they didn’t have university… countries rest/rotate/trial players all the time in these sort of series what’s the big deal?
Fowler and Sterling would’ve played almost every minute of the SSN season then straight in to comm games where they played a lot of minutes as well. Player welfare and rest needs to also come in to it at some point.

Gonna wait till they play Aussie but I’m loving this midcourt, if they play like that then I’d say Crampton is left out of Worlds. All the other middies can play multiple positions and can feed both a holding and moving circle.

MRB was amazing at WA. Karaka was snaping in those intercepts and is looking the best since her covid struggles.

Gonna be hard selections for the midcourt and defence.

With Watson, Burger, and Heffernan out atm.

And we don’t know what sort of season Dunn will throw out there.

Yes it was a weakened Jamaica but the play the Ferns put out was a great looking style of play.
