Vixens really are the SS queens of 2022. MJ had 3 and Samason 2 to come back and win that. They just got it, turned and shot. Cox would have been proud.
Dwan had two as well but TBirds played it around a lot before they were comfortable to put the SS up which actually led to the Lewis intercept to get Vixens ahead.
Hopefully once they have their full squad Vixens will be less reliant on the SS
But once they get Austin as well I feel like they’ll fall even more in love with the SS
Over the two days the standouts for me for the thunderbirds were Austin and Williams. Surely Austin gets a contract somewhere in 2023. Dwan looked more confident today and will only grow more throughout the season. Garrett as well looks like she will continue her impressive 2021 form.
For the vixens the standouts were Samason and Lambden. Once Kiera Austin comes back the vixens will have a very impressive rotation of shooters and I hope we see Samason & Austin together at some point. Again Lambden needs a contract in 2023. Moving to the vixens looks like the right move for Lewis and her combo with Mannix looked promising considering they are both traditionally goal keepers
I love watching Dwan, sort of wish Vixens had selected her over Austin.
SSN contracts for Austin and Lambden in 2023 please.
Wilson is in for a big 2022.
Hard to say what these two teams will do this year. Both very inconsistent.
TBirds were full strength today. possibly still a year or two off top 4 but they should push higher and they do have a very versatile lineup to match up against many teams well. Exciting team and I enjoy watching a lot of their players. Vixens without 3 contracted players today. I suspect Vixens will have a slow start to the season and it’s going to depend on how long they take to click once Austin comes in as to whether they can push top 4. Shouldn’t get another wooden spoon though.
TBirds beat Vixens by 19 this time last year.
Watson is a beast. Covered by 2 if not 3 players every play. To point out the obvious she makes a massive difference to this team.
Anyone know why Eddy didn’t play? Presumably Weston was just load management.
Thunderbirds should’ve won that game. Too many changes and lack of experience/ combinations in the attack ended up losing them the game. If they put Potgieter back on they would’ve had stability in the attack end. They mucked around too much with the supershot.
Looks like the Magpies are in Sydney at the moment. Anyone know who they are playing and if it’ll be streamed?
Vixens vs Tbirds Game 2 stats. Vixens pretty much won this game through the super shot.
Kumwenda: 23/26 (SS: 3/3)
Samason: 22/29 (SS: 6/9)
Barkmeyer: 3/4Potgeiter: 26/28
Horjus: 11/15 (SS: 0/1)
Dwan: 10/12 (SS: 2/3)
Austin: 7/9 (SS: 0/1)Standouts for the Vixens were Samason and Olivia Lewis. I really hope we see more of Lewis this year.
For the T’birds – Latanya Wilson was very impressive through WD and GD. Nankivell looks in great form but must be on managed minutes. Likewise I really liked the look of Horjus in WA

Team Girls Cup draw…
I feel sorry for thunderbirds and Collingwood they have the toughest draw.
Down to the dying minutes, but the Thunderbirds take the win in game one in Orange.#StandUnited pic.twitter.com/4KtNtubwFc

Re Netball Team Girls comp next weekend…
As a Vixens member I was notified of ticket sales earlier this week and decided to try to stop being ‘Omicron Neurotic’ and buy tickets for the whole comp. Ticketek said it was sold out…oh well. TV will be fine.
Tried yesterday afternoon and got tickets for Sunday’s session.
Looking forward to it.
Grats JR, i’m sure its going to be a great time.
