Lightning look very rusty indeed. Batcheldor looks great though. Their midcourt is messy. They are one of the teams to be full strength this weekend so not great signs from that perspective. It will be key who they sign to replace Pretorious as GD and WD are weak points for them.

It seems as if the live stream works perfectly in the UK but not elsewhere.

What a comeback for Lightning. Batcheldor is a star.

Swifts lack depth this year. I know they don’t have their TPs due to covid but their bench is weaker than they have had the last few years. Singleton was impressive though I thought. If they keep their top 7 or 8 fit they’ll probably win the whole comp B-)

            Glasgow not playing for Fever.

            Brandley not playing for Giants.

              Full time: 43-43

It’s a draw! Housby with a shot to win it but it’s too late and doesn’t count. Swifts won three quarters but that performance by Lightning in the 3rd Q really got them back in the game. They ended up shooting 7 from 7 with super shots!

I’m curious to see how Dwyer goes this year. obviously an incredible break out season last year however 2nd year blues are far too common so I hope she doesn’t fall victim…

1/4 time and Giants lead 10-8. It’s a bit of a scrappy affair so far with 12 turnovers in 10 minutes.

TPs really are going to be key this year. Due to covid and injuries lots of notable absences this weekend.

Which teams have the most depth? Think I’ll back them in come season proper.

So far known absences are Glasgow, Hay, Brandley, Kumwenda, Austin, Wallace.

Lightning and Firebirds (Wallam for Aiken) look full strength.

1/2 time: Fever leads 20-19. Really nothing to choose between the two teams. As per usual, Jhaniele Fowler and Courtney Bruce both shining for Fever. No one really standing out for Giants so far although Sophie Dwyer has had a good game at GA.

                        3/4 time: Fever 33-31

This game is close, but not hitting any great heights yet. Fever doing just enough to keep their noses in front. Emma Cosh playing well for Fever while Amy Parmenter displaying her versatility by moving from her regular WD to WA for Giants.

Goodness me, this is still scrappy. It’s a case of which team can hold on to the ball! So many turnovers.

Fever 40-39 as we go into the final 3 mins.

                            Full time: Fever 47-41

For most of the game, Fever just seemed to have a greater cohesion and composure than Giants who committed 22 turnovers in just 40 minutes of netball. Fowler once again the spearhead with 38/40 while Price was probably the best for Giants.

Vixens look better than I thought they would with no Austin or MJ but Queen Rahni is a diamond in waiting :rose: The link from Watson looks stronger than against TBirds. vixens defense is tight but even last year defence was good. Their general flow through court is already many steps up on last year but they can get stuck in transition, Eddy needs to do more there and wonder if we will see Moloney play WD at all this weekend.

Will be interesting how they go when Samason has a rest.

FBs… Stower hasn’t been poor but so interesting they preferenced her over Batcheldor.

FBs do not have Wallam or Dunkley.

So both with reinforcements to come in.

Vixens dominating the first qtr against Firebirds, up 13-6 at the break. No Donnell Wallam for those that might have been hoping to see here here.

Oh Rahni is such a delight to watch.

Moloney needs time at WD to have a chance of being picked for CWG.
