Hey Ian not sure how busy you are but is there a chance you could work out fantasy scores for some of these games? Think it would be really interesting to see how Garbin’s been going compared to her SSN scores (even though it’s a different position).
Yeah, I’ll get around to it. Busy now, but I’ll probably do them all (including the NZ games) after this series is finished.
No Donnell Wallam unfortunately in Test 2. Sophie Garbin comes back into the 12 for her.
AUS:
GS Koenen
GA Austin
WA Hadley
C Price
WD Parmenter
GD Weston
GK KlauENG:
GS Cardwell
GA Housby
WA Metcalf
C Clarke
WD Malcolm
GD Williams
GK FadojuMatch up….Cardwell v Bruce??
Isn’t Klau starting?
Can we please please please have a national anthem that can be sung without shrieking or in the key of dirge.
Koenan playing so strongly at the moment. She knows she’s got competition and she’s showing up.
Thilby not afraid to tell housby to pull it in. I liked it.
Just throw the ball to Cardwell already!!!
1/4 time: Aus 16-11
Koenen 8/10 (80%)
Austin 8/8 (100%)Cardwell 7/9 (78%)
Housby 4/5 (80%)Turnovers: 5-5
Penalties: Eng 16-12Difference so far has been the Diamonds’ all-court defence, making it difficult for the Roses. 6 gains to 2 in that Q for Australia.
I’d like to see Turner on to combat Housby- Weston not doing a lot wrong but with two turnovers already and looking a bit stuck, and Turner would know her Swifts teammate better.
I’d like to see SDL in WA and literally anyone else in C. The Metcalf/Clarke combo is not effective.
I would make the following changes:
Mentor on GK
Fadoju on WD
Malcolm on C
Drakeford-Lewis WANo drive through court at all from england. Cardwells shot selection is a bit iffy sometimes, could feed at and reset her landing. Fadoju is still impressive against a more mobile shooter and a lot of arm length between her and Guscoth.
Just another meh match tbh. Seems they just going through the motions from both teams.
I think if Garbin and Koenan keep playing steady like this theyd be the two shooters for NWC (both provide a different look in the shooting circle) then probably Wood and Austin. Id give Dwyer a couple more international years before throwing her into a NWC deepend. Wallam doesnt have it imo, she gets found out at SSN level now people can study her play and itll only be more so for internationals. At 28 i dont see her in the next ‘cycle’ neither.
Anyone know why she wasnt available for this test?
Also the hip checking from Klau on the shooters after a goal is scored is super frustrating to see.
