Full time: Sirens 50-44
After trailing 25-21 at half time, Sirens put in a commanding second half (29-19) to beat Wasps 50-44. Sirens’ WD Taylor McKevitt was named Player of the Match.
Full time: Pulse 52-48
What a great game! And a big upset. Pulse led by 10 at one point. Bath came back, largely thanks to Layla Guscoth and it looked like their extra experience would see them get on top. But it didn’t happen. Pulse held on strong. POTM was Funmi Fadoju who was brilliant.
Don’t often see stats like this from players on opposing teams in the same game.
Fadoju: 9 gains, 6 intercepts, 11 deflections.
Guscoth: 9 gains, 8 intercepts, 7 deflections. If anyone thought yesterday’s games were a touch underwhelming given a lack of close scores, well, today’s matches are most certainly making up for it. On to game 3 for the day and Celtic Dragons have the lead 31-28 at half time over Mavericks.
Full time: Mavericks 61-54
Mavericks proved to be just a bit too good for Dragons and won the second half by 10. But still a lot of positive signs for the team from Wales. Ine-Mari Venter continued on with her fine form from the Quad Series and was a deserved POTM.
Full time: Thunder 70-45
Manchester Thunder were far too strong for Severn Stars and with two big wins they go to the top of the table after the first week. POTM was Millie Sanders with 6 gains.
