Looks like it could be a long season for the Steel based on last night’s performance.
Does anyone know how long Tui and THRSR are unavailable for? Tui would give them a good target in the shooting circle and Selby-Rickit’s presence is needed on court.
A fully fit Steel line-up would be competitive:
Selby-Rickit
Burley
Elliot/Savai’naea
Kate Heffernan
Winders
Georgia Heffernan
Tui@Maryann there was a clip on the ANZ Premiership Instagram I believe where Winders said the move allowed her and her husband to live together during the season, as his shearing it seems is largely Southland based. He’s also originally from there and has lots of family.
What I found interesting was Winders said she never considered being a one-team player because she wanted to experience new coaching/experiences, etc. I thought she was Magic for life, but certainly don’t begrudge her looking to change things up.
Nweke at GA, surely that is good for her fitness and game knowledge. Hindsight is wonderful considering the 22 season.
Early days for the Steel. Some hard fought wins will come. Still rate Bloxham as an excellent coach.

Only watched the first half. Those missed shots, some right near the post, really messed up the Steel. And a team like Mystics will really punish you.
So pleased to see Walmsley and Ioane get starting spots. Realistically, Souness has already talked about the Pulse rebuilding this season.
Kersten/Gordon my match up to watch.
1/4 time: Pulse 15 v Magic 12
Pulse up 28-21 nearing the end of the first half.
Mes and Ekenasio have been caught on the same side of the circle too many times. They are experienced players, they should know how to balance the circle.
Not watching the game, but see on the live scoring Mes is shooting 17/19 – can’t remember the last time she shot that volume and accuracy.
Also see Edgecombe got the start at WA. Hope she’s much improved from last season. A good young player.
Edit: Sorry, see Wilbore got the WA start but has been replaced by Edgecombe.

Are the Pulse really using the rebuilding tag? They have only lost Dunn and Pedersen from last years team. With the calibre of players they still have, surely they would have to be one of the most experienced teams?
1/2 time: Pulse 30-25.
Magic still well in this, but Pulse just looking a bit more under control.
This is a thriller. Good game.
Pulse wins 53-52!
