Tactix up 29-23 at 1/2 time. Stars hanging in there with the last 3 goals of the Q.
Tactix maintaining a 6 goal lead going into the last Q. 42-36
Stars staying with the Tactix. More than I expected. Malesala is going good guns in GA.
The last Q was also even, so Tactix wins it by 6.
Full time: Tactix 55-49
What did everyone think of that one?
Stars defence put up more resistance than I expected. The circle defence obviously revolves around Temu. Think she had a good first outing with Nawai Caucau but the other combination I hadn’t thought about was Temu at the back with Fowler in front of her and Samon Nathan at WD which is a good change up.
The Tactix combination between Malcolm and Poi will grow with time. Poi mentioned in comments it’s a relatively new position for her (Constellation Cup aside the last time Poi played consistently at WA was for the Magpies in 2019?) so expect her/that duo to grow.
First time I’ve seen any of the players on court this season – missed the Otaki tournament and any snippets on TV.
I thought the Tactix would have taken it by more. Keen to see next weeks games.🌀 ANZ PREMIERSHIP ROUND 1 🌀
🔮 The Northern Mystics opened the 2023 ANZ Premiership season with a 26-goal thumping of Southern Steel.
💛 Pulse pipped WBOP Magic in a one-goal thriller.

No SF trials. Hmm makes ANZp super exciting. 👌
Kinda scrappy game. Looked error ridden.
Weird seeing Aliyah Dunn not in the Pulse uniform. The delivery into her wasn’t as smooth as the Pulse feeders. Stars defenders also looked to be making a lot of contact, which shows in their stats. Dunn is an upgrade for the tactix. However will be interesting to see how they improve after that outing. Early days.
Burger was sublime.McCausland Durie is definitely the best coach in the league. She doesn’t chop and change subs so much as the other coaches and her teams just look slicker.
I didn’t realise that Donna Wilkins was part of the coaching team for Tactix.
Is she still a specialist coach for the SFs? I wonder if working with Dunn, will help Dunns chances for SFs? She’s clearly one of our dominant shooters.Interesting the comments saying Tactix should have won by more.
IMO Stars should have got a bonus point. The combo of Wilson/Mila RB/Crampton is very experienced yet threw a lot of ball away.’
Tactix combo of Dunn/TP/Malcolm is in it’s very, very early stages and also with Poi at WA.
The Tactix are always slow starters in the ANZ so to win and not let Stars get a bonus point is a good start.Im one of those saying I thought they would have taken it by more, I did expect a 10 goal buffer knowing that Wilson had had issues post covid and Hume not joining the team post surgery until after Pre Season. I think Tactix will take this season, would be delighted if they did.
@thunder123 i loved the coaches moves too, rating Tia over Helene already :yahoo: I can see her logic, look what happened last season when a player got injured, nothing worked, players should play a couple of positions at least, Nweke didnt look out of place as a GA either, neither did Fitzpatrick at WD
