@kwkiwi as a tactix fan the game was a bit to hard to watch, i was going to walk way. Burger and Watson way to quiet, they even did the coach cam on Maryanne who was asking how many gains they had… it was 1, granted it was early on but still. Selby-Rickitt is either on fine form who shes completely off, doesnt seem to have a medium, I thought Dunn played good too

@Maryann i rate Walmsley as a great up and coming player but i think the right call was to bench her

Gee the Magic are hard to work out, beat the Mystics and Pulse, but got torn apart by the Stars and Tactix.

McLeod and no real comments on how well they played or much about there game at all, go figure.
Personally I think Tactix and Stars are Magic’s foes

@maryann I thought mccausland Durie could have left Mvula a bit longer since Mikaere had clearly decided she was going to play physical against walmsley. Mvula looks like she’d give back as good as she gets if the tough get going. As people are saying you have to play to the umpires but I think the umpiring has been very variable this season. Not very consistent.

That was just one isolated instance of Metuarau making an error passing it around too much at the end. I’m sure she’ll learn from it.

Don’t think tactix nor pulse are going to take out the title this year. Stars and mystics look far stronger.

@RMB I agree Walmsley is definitely the future if she continues along her current path. Gut just told me that if Mikaere muscled in on and over her, and it was allowed, it would get to her. However next time may well be a different result.
I’m not sure why Mvula isn’t getting more time but from memory imports have in the past been bench players which doesn’t make sense.

My pet peeve after the weekend is why was Rore pulled into the Pulse? Supposedly for injury cover for Mason and Manua and Puleiata yet Mason played near a full game for NNL and Manua came off later in the match with cramp. Sure Puleiata has done her ACL but I can’t help feeling that teams need to replace like for like and use the next tier down. If they don’t have that depth then they need to look at their systems.

I thought the umpiring was crap in the Pulse v Magic game. Mikaere was smacking Warmsley around the head, knocking her down, and then a big swat nowhere near the ball, but close to the eyes.
She can’t play like that against Dunn and Wilson as they are to strong and to experienced.

Re mention of Rore, I read a Stuff article that said she was a part of the ANZ Premiership ‘Free Agent Pool’, but the link just went to another article talking to her playing for the Stars last week.

Who else is in this Free Agent Pool? Would just be NNL players surely?

@mcleod.< I agree, I thought the umpiring was poor .from where I was sitting I could see Walmsley get whacked in the face a few times with elbows and her hand. I thought that the replacement player who came did a better job standing up to Mikaere and should have been left on longer, let Walkley have a bit of time out to regroup.

@WeWood – can’t find any mention of a change with regards to Free Agent Pool for 2023 but this was 2022

‘Teams who had less than four positive cases had the ability to draw on players from their second-tier national netball league (NNL) sides or utilise a free agent player pool.

The free agent pool featured players, who had indicated they were willing to help out teams affected by Covid-19.’

Pulse up 29-24 at half time.

The NZ comp is crazy this year. If Pulse wins this, there will be 5 teams within 3 or 4 points of each other at the top. Sorry, Steel.

Walmsley – 18/23 (78%). Pulse are winning. Why not put Mvula on?
