      Def not Metuarau for SF.

On current form would have to be Nweke, Wilson, Ekenasio and Mes with TPSR in 5th.

Middies is a strange one so far this season and without having any trials who knows.

Defence would be the usual, Jury, Watson, Burger and Karaka.

My four shooters would be Nweke Dunn Ekenasio and Mes. However I know Dunn won’t be there. I would take TPSR over Wilson.

@Nate I agree the midcourt is a strange one. I feel they need both Toeava and Crampton, but is it necessary?
I’d have Heffernan, but my eye has been on Tayla Earle for the 4th spot. I know she’d never be picked – but my thinking is you don’t need a C/WA if you have 2 specialist WAs. I’d take 2 C/WD to balance it out. Burger being the swing GD/WD and Mes GA/WA.

Yvonne Willering does not believe they’d take 2 WA specialists. She feels they’ll take Crampton.

This has been the best ANZ season in quite a few years. The Pulse has pretty much lead the way the last 5 seasons (4 out of 5 finals) and now we find them near the bottom with the Steel who I am praying will get a win this season. Outside of the Steel you really don’t know who is going to win on the night. Stars are faltering badly and the Magic are proving to be just that, Magic.

Big game coming up for the Magic against the Tactix this weekend although I heard a rumour one of the Tactix players is potentially out for the season. Pulse could leap from fifth into second if they can win both their games. Crossing my fingers that the Steel can upset an out of form Stars and get a win on the table.

I have been harping on about the following line:

Crampton – WA/C (I would feel comfortable with Gina playing C against South Africa/Malawi/Uganda – remembering our starting CWG C hadn’t regularly played there since high school, and would anyone question Crampton’s conditioning?)
              Heffernan – C/WD
              Poi – C/WA
              Toeava – WA

              Burger – GD/WD back-up
              Karaka – GD/WD back-up
              Mes – GA/WA back-up

I love how we can’t help but think about national selection already!! Ok seats making lists in my head.

The way I see it, we need to take both crampton and Toeava. Crampton as starting Wa for composure and experience….however if we were down by 10 at half time and needed to score quickly to catch up you’d have to back the toeava nweke combo every day of the week. Jury Watson and karaka are all good enough to start, which means burger needs to be a Wd slide otherwise we are trying to squeeze 4 top players into 2 positions only. With heffernan at c and Wd too, that means the 4 mid court play only needs to be the starting C or backup C depending on where Noel’s wants heffernan. For me, any one of Ruelu-Buchanan,Gordon, poi and souness will work fine as I suspect Kate H is the starting c in noelines master plan going forward. Also agree with all the comments – surely crampton or toeava can play C against some lower ranked teams?!

Pretty sure Peta used to play C in her early Mystics games. Little pocket rocket.

Thing is Ferns don’t have many lower games, if they want to win the WC, they will prob have to play, Jamaica, South Africa, England, Australia, Uganda. Will Noels take 2 specialist WA’s just so one can trot around at C for a couple of easy games. Both Gina and Peta are not C options against those 5 teams, not even remotely close.
The risk is to great to have just 2 proper C options.

@TB I wonder if its Burger. Her insta yesterday had her back at the pools which is where she spent a lot of rehab time. She had both the left knee and her right foot strapped at the weekend. Hopefully not, in fact I hope no one is injured enough to put their season in jeopardy.

I just saw on instagram it’s poor Greer Sinclair who injured her foot in an accident at home. Paris Lokotui will come in as a replacement.

Yes poor Greer finally gets a contract, and was playing well. Such a shame, Paris L will do well.
